Marge has a bevy of problems I am having a slow startup and shutdown along with everything else being "slow". When shutting down I get this message "CiceroUIWindFrame". I have searched and cannot find what this is related to at all. Nothing is showing up anywhere. I only have 3 programs running at startup. They are: ashDisp.exe C:\Program\Awil (which I know is Avast) dlccmon C:\Program Files\Dell CTFMON C:\Windows\System I have a Dell computer. Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP3, Intel®, Pentium® 4CPU 1.60GHz,1.59GHz, 256MB of Ram. Also downloaded IE8. I have Avast, SUPERAntiSpyware (free edition), SpywareBlaster installed. I do updates at least every other day, but mostly daily to be safe. I have done disk cleanup and defrag and still nothing goes any faster. I do not have a lot of programs running or a lot of pictures, documents, etc. I understand this is not a new computer, but I had a 98SE that ran faster than this one. This is a used computer, but I did expect it to be somewhat faster than the 98SE I had before, but it is slower. I did call my server (I had Embarq (which is now CenturyLink, which was once Sprint) DSL High Speed ..and they said it's running the way it should be...I find that hard to believe when my 98SE was a 128MB. It's as slow as having Dial Up at times having to sit and wait for anything to download. If you have an answer to my problem, I sure would appreciate it. Our answer 1. Click Start, then click Control Panel Your computer does not have enough RAM. You're running Windows XP Pro on 256MB of RAM. You need at least 1GB of RAM. If you go to www.crucial.com you can find exactly the right RAM for your computer, and if you order the RAM from them, they'll ship it with easy-to-follow instructions. Installing RAM in your computer is not hard or time consuming. Anyone can do it. Since we don't know your Dell model number, all we can tell you is that you either have two or four RAM slots in your computer. We'd suggest you install two 512MB RAM modules in your computer as per the instructions which you'll receive from Crucial. Again we're guessing you have two 128MB RAM modules installed now. If so you'll have to pull the two 128MB RAM modules from your computer and replace them with the two 512MB modules. If you learn from Crucial that you have only one 256MB RAM chip installed, you can go ahead and buy one 1GB RAM chip to replace it with. It's more likely though that you have 2 RAM modules installed. I wish we could give you more specific advice but, again, we don't know your Dell model number. Running Windows 98 with 128MB of RAM was fine. Running Windows XP PRO with 256MB of RAM isn't. Even Netbooks sold recently with Windows XP Home installed almost always had 1GB of RAM. You'll find there's a huge difference between 256MB of RAM and 1GB of RAM. Right now your computer is running mostly from virtual memory - as your physical memory isn't adequate. That means your computer is using your hard drive for memory and hard drives are much, much slower than RAM. That's why your computer seems sluggish. As far as your DSL connection? We can't help you there. About the only suggestion we can offer is if you have a cable Internet provider in your area, you might want to switch to cable. Basic cable Internet is much faster than basic DSL.
