Olly thinks we have resorted to desperate measures to raise funds
Hello to you both -- I have subscribed to your newsletter since your very early days, and have always found it very interesting and informative. That was until recently, when i have been unable to read any of the links to comments in the most recent newsletter because, it appears, you have started to have an association with the notorious "Overpeer" which is quite rightly being blocked by my risky site blocker.

I have researched this company and I have discovered that they have been in business for some time as uploaders of fake software, which contains adware, and spyware, and even possibly viruses, but I'm sure you are already aware of this!

I also can't open your homepage as I used to, because of "Overpeer, Inc". and also "LeaseWeb" because both are being blocked, leaving me with a "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading" alert from Firefox.

At first I wondered if you had resorted to these companies as a way to make much needed funds, in the way Google does, by tracking it's users information for advertising, but you have always been open and honest in the way you run your site, and that would be very underhanded to make money in this way without telling us. So it must have another explanation which I hope you will be able to give to me, with, hopefully, a way around the problem.

First of , let me say that I love your newsletter. You guys rock! I had read over and over about "Reimage". I was having trouble loading pages and my computer ran slow as molasses. Wot's Wrong With WOT?

OK. First we're going to admit something: We have, in the past, recommended WOT, but we don't recommend it anymore.

A few years ago, most popular browsers (I.E., Firefox, Chrome, etc.) began including anti-phishing toolbars. And surprisingly, for the most part they work pretty well, and with very few false positives. These anti-phishing features alert users when they click links in phishing email and end up on a site designed to look like a real credit card, bank, or online-payment site. The purpose of these kinds of sites is to dupe users into offering up their personal information, passwords, usernames, etc. for the sole purpose of stealing money.

Shadows

I think everyone has shadows in their past. Some dark corners that don't look very pretty when the light of day shines upon them.

Maybe I just think everyone has shadows in their past because I have so many. Or maybe others have too many too. Or maybe very few really do, but it is comforting to think they do.

It occurs to me that I can't base my life on what happens to others. It's true, I think, that we all need to feel that we're not alone - that others share some of the same things we don't like about ourselves. But we all bear the consequences of our own actions - and looking for faults and shadows in others is no way to fix the faults in me or shed light on the shadows I've buried deep beside the path of my life.
