This tip is for Windows 10 Version 1803 (and newer)

Windows 10 Version 1803 let’s you clean junk and temporary files from your computer without using Windows Disk Cleanup. As Microsoft continues its mission to move everything to “Settings”, more and more features are showing up in Settings app.

To use Windows 10 Storage Space to clean up temporary & junk files, open Settings (Windows key + i) and click on System > Storage.

In “Storage” click on “Free up space now” (see screenshot below):

When you click on “Free up space now’, you’ll see it scanning your hard drive looking for temp and junk files. When it’s done scanning you’ll see a list of file that it will clean. You can check anything you want to remove or uncheck anything you don’t want to remove. Some boxes will be checked by default and all these files are safe to remove.

Surprised Emsisoft does not get a mention in the attached “best free anti virus 2018” advertisement attached to this email 🙁

Emsisoft is not free. And, you are reading an “advertisement” so anyone can advertise what they want for free

Articles like “The Best Free AntiVirus” are clickbait used to generate clicks and money from ads. It happens with everything. Best Lawnmowers of 2018, Best Smart Light Bulbs, Best 42″ TVs… anyone can put together a list they don’t have to be qualified. There are many “Best Free Antivirus” articles out there – most are written by people who don’t have a clue – but they sure have clue how to make clickbait. Plus, as Darcy says – Emsisoft is not free.

We have worked on 1000’s of PCs and we can tell you the ones protected with Emsisoft have he least PUPS, Malware, and malicious files. Almost any antivirus can protect 100% against viruses, viruses are very rare these days and old technology.. It’s malware, PUPs and other malicious files that are the problem.
