Flaticon_15834Icons, smileys, pretty ladies, music, grandkids, blueberries — these are a few of our favorite things.

I was looking around tonight for something different to feature in our daily newsletter — and you can be sure it will be in our Premium and free Info newsletters too because I am lazy and not apt to type something like this all over again — that almost everyone will find both fun and useful.

This Cloudeight site pick lets you download

icons, all kinds of icons, and use them on your computer, in your projects, on your dog’s, cat’s, or husband’s collar, or even as Web fonts.

Whether or now you’re graphically inclined, you’ll be inclined to visit this site and find swell, nifty icons here — and, if you enjoy working with graphics, or just like free stuff (without strings), then you will have fun at FlatIcon – not to be confused with flatiron steaks, but we shall endeavor to find you some great flatiron steaks someday — maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday. And don’t get FlatIcon confused with FatIcon, like Jackie Gleason, God rest his jolly soul …”HEY NORTON!!!”

A colorful aside:  You will notice (below) that the black and white image above, comes to life with graphic artist living inside of TC who yearns to be another Picasso but can neither manage to paint like him nor be surrounded by gorgeous women like him  – well, like he was. I think all the women have abandoned him by now. He’s not the suave man he once was – be he can’t help that he’s dead. I might not be a Picasso, but I can sure turn black and white Christmas trees in to colorful ones 🙂

Enough prattle, here’s the juicy part from the Web site “FlatIcon”:

flaticon-colorWelcome to FlatIcon: the Fastest Tool that Converts Fabulous Icons into Web Fonts.

Pick the icons you want, download them into the Download Box and you will get them in a hurry. Priceless!

The greatest thing about FlatIcon is that this powerful tool is free. Everybody can get the icons easily, for any kind of project, online or offline.

The icons you find with FlatIcon are scalable and accessible to any screen reader. We guarantee the best performance of the icons on whatever device you use.

How to convert an icon into a web font and download it in your computer:

Find the icon you like with the search bar (located at the top of the site).

Once you get the search results, move the mouse cursor over the icon you want. This will prompt 2 buttons: “See More Info” and “Download”.

If you choose “Download”, the icon will be transferred in the green box, in the top right corner of the page.
Click on the “Download Icons” box. A drop-down menu will show you the icons you selected.

Choose the file types you need to download. If you choose “All”, you will receive the icons as Web Font, PNG and SVG in a single archive.

In the words of FlatIcon founder, Alejandro Sánchez Blanes:

Flaticon_15890“Nowadays, icons are becoming very important and they are widely used in design projects. So much, in fact, that I wondered “why not build a new tool to find and choose icons without limits, a tool that can run well in any project, eventually”. FlatIcon, is a breakthrought (sic) at this point, it makes icon search and conversion a lot easier and extremely fast, offering useful formats like SVG, source and PNG.

And in the words of John Lennon and Paul McCartney:

Now it’s time to say goodnight,Flaticon_17279
Goodnight, sleep tight.
Now the sun turns off his light…
Goodnight, sleep tight.

Dream sweet dreams for me; dream sweet dreams for you.

Oh, and Alejandro wanted us to tell you that FlatIcon is a project of the authors of Freepik – so go get some free pics at Freepik.

I’m a master of making something out of nothing. But FlatIcon is not nothing. Nothing is nothing really. Nothing is always something, no matter how empty it is – because empty is something. Really, it is.

I shall pontificate no more. Got icons? Get icons. Make a font, or just make merry at www.flaticon.com

All icons  from www.flaticon.com. FlatIcon.com is a project of the very same people who created http://freepik.com/ .

I don’t have a clue what you’re clicking but the files are available individually as .PNG, .SVG, .PSD — if you click the icon instead of clicking the down arrow you are taken to a page where you can click the format you want — and those are not zip. However, I did test the zip file — know what’s in it? One PNG file (image) — and nothing else.

Please follow the instructions listed on their site.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful site. The timing is especially good with the holidays coming up, which is when I like to use a few extra icons/graphics. You two are always surprising us with these little ‘gifts’! Thanks again!

PSD is photoshop — it comes zipped. You need to download PNG not PSD.

never mind and it says Windows Users: You may need to run the Adobe Extension Manager as Administrator (right-click the Adobe Extension Manager icon and click “Run as Administrator”).
Click “Install” and navigate to the Flaticon extension file (.zxp).
Once again thank you….I am going to pick the ones I want now. Have a great week!!!!

I don’t want you misleading anyone. You don’t need to install anything. PNG files open in Web browsers, image viewers, image editors. You don’t Adobe.

PSD files are Adobe Photoshop files that preserve layers. You don’t need Adobe anything just to download the PNG files.
