You all know about Google Docs by now. Google Docs is one of the best online office suites. But since most of you are familiar with it — if you’re not login to your Gmail account and click “Documents” at the top – we’re going to skip another review of Google Docs and tell you about another great free, cloud-based office suite called Zoho.

Before we do though, we want you to know there are several really good free, downloadable office suites. Most of the downloadable suites, like Open Office, are over 100MB downloads. So they’re very large and take up a lot of hard drive real estate. There’s an alternative to taking up your hard drive space with huge free office suites: Cloud-based office suites like Zoho.

Zoho has all the features of most office suites – a word processor, spread sheets, a PowerPoint-like presentation tool, etc. You can edit and create documents in Word.Doc format, and do all the things most office suites do, all without downloading or installing anything. Well, yes, you do have to download your finished documents if you want to save them on your computer. And Zoho’s free version gives you one gigabyte of free storage space to store your documents online.

We’re going to let the Zoho team tell you more about Zoho, probably more than you want to know, but still, we are going to give them a chance to tell you about this great cloud-based office suite:

“…Zoho.com offers a comprehensive suite of award-winning on-line business, productivity & collaboration applications. Customers use Zoho Applications to run their business processes, manage their information and be more productive while at the office or on the go, without having to worry about expensive or outdated hardware or software.

To date, Zoho.com has launched 22 online applications — from CRM to Mail, Office Suite, Project Management, Invoicing, Web conferencing and more. Zoho has received numerous awards, including an InfoWorld 2009 ‘Product of the Year’ award, a 2008 PC World ’25 Most Innovative Products Award’ and a 2007 TechCrunch ‘Best Enterprise Start-up.’ …”

So if you’re looking for a complete office suite that you don’t have to download or install – and you don’t find Google Docs to your liking, you might really like Zoho. You can learn more about and sign up for a free Zoho account by visiting www.zoho.com .
