{"id":1047,"date":"2011-03-29T15:20:43","date_gmt":"2011-03-29T19:20:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/?p=1047"},"modified":"2011-03-29T18:56:49","modified_gmt":"2011-03-29T22:56:49","slug":"three-easy-windows-tips-3292011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/three-easy-windows-tips-3292011\/","title":{"rendered":"Three easy Windows Tips &#8212; 3\/29\/2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><br \/>\n<em>1.Change your boring Mouse Pointers<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">If you are tired of seeing the same old  \t\tmouse pointers all the time (hourglass, arrow, etc.) Windows offers a  \t\tlot of really nice pointer schemes, such as Conductor, Dinosaur, Old  \t\tFashioned many others.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">For Windows XP users -Click &#8220;Start&#8221; then  \t\t&#8220;Control Panel&#8221;.\u00a0 Switch to &#8220;Category View&#8221; in Control Panel, select  \t\tAppearance and Themes, then click Mouse Pointers under &#8220;See Also.&#8221; on  \t\tthe left. Next to Schemes, click the down arrow and select a scheme to  \t\tpreview its pointers. If you use the &#8220;Classic View&#8221; Control Panel,  \t\tdouble-click Mouse, and select the Pointers tab. Click OK to apply the  \t\tscheme to your desktop. You can easily revert back to the Windows  \t\tdefault pointer scheme by selecting &#8220;Default&#8221; from the above dialogs.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>For Windows Vista &amp; Windows 7 users &#8211; Click &#8220;Start&#8221;  \t\tthen &#8220;Control Panel&#8221;, the click &#8220;Classic View&#8221; (on the left side of the  \t\tdialog). Now click &#8220;Personalization&#8221;, then &#8220;Mouse Pointers&#8221;. Use the  \t\tdrop-down arrow to browse the numerous mouse pointer schemes available.  \t\tIf you choose one, you will see a small preview of the pointers  \t\trepresentative of the that particular theme. To apply a new theme, click  \t\t&#8220;Apply&#8221; &#8220;OK&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>2. Hide  \t\tyour desktop icons &#8211; a clean desktop all the time!<\/p>\n<p>Tired of the all the icons on your  \t\tdesktop, but you need them and don&#8217;t want to delete or move them?<\/p>\n<p>Windows XP users &#8211; Right-click on an open  \t\tarea of your desktop, look under &#8220;Arrange Desktop Icons&#8221; and uncheck  \t\t&#8220;Show Desktop Icons&#8221;. If you want an easy way to access your desktop  \t\ticons, shortcuts, and folders, when they&#8217;re hidden, just right-click on  \t\ta blank section of your taskbar and select &#8220;Toolbars&#8221; and check  \t\t&#8220;Desktop&#8221;. Now you have a clean desktop and all your icons are listed  \t\tneatly in when you click on the new &#8220;Desktop&#8221; toolbar on your task bar.  \t\tYou can always revert back to showing your icons on your desktop at  \t\tanytime by reversing the above steps.<\/p>\n<p>Windows Vista and Windows 7 users- Right-click an open  \t\tarea of your desktop, click &#8220;View&#8221; and remove the bullet next to &#8220;View  \t\tdesktop icons&#8221; by clicking on it. If you want an easy way to access your  \t\tdesktop icons, shortcuts, and folders, when they&#8217;re hidden, just  \t\tright-click on a blank section of your taskbar and select &#8220;Toolbars&#8221; and  \t\tcheck &#8220;Desktop&#8221;. Now you have a clean desktop and all your icons are  \t\tlisted neatly in when you click on the new &#8220;Desktop&#8221; toolbar on your  \t\ttask bar. You can always revert back to showing your icons on your  \t\tdesktop at anytime by reversing the above steps.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><em>3. Hide that pesky  \t\tand almost useless &#8220;Safely remove hardware&#8221; icon<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">The Safely Remove Hardware Icon is one of  \t\tthe most annoying things to us. We hate it. We seldom ever use it yet  \t\tsits there day after day taking up space in our System Tray. But, no  \t\tmore. We&#8217;ve conquered this nuisance and you can too! If you&#8217;ve added USB  \t\thardware to your computer you may have noticed this little icon in your  \t\ttray\u00a0 called &#8220;Safely Remove Hardware&#8221;. After awhile this icon will start  \t\tbothering you like it did us. If it bothers you too, here&#8217;s how you can  \t\tsafely remove (or hide at least) the pesky &#8220;Safely Remove Hardware&#8221;  \t\ticon:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Windows XP users &#8211; Right click within the  \t\ttaskbar, outside of specific icons (at the margin edge). Select  \t\tProperties. In the Customize Notifications dialog box, scroll down to  \t\tthe Safely Remove Hardware entry. Click the entry in the &#8220;Behavior&#8221;  \t\tcolumn for the icon. In the dropdown box, and select &#8220;Always hide&#8221; this  \t\ticon. Click OK.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Windows Vista users- Right-click &#8220;Start&#8221;  \t\tand choose &#8220;Properties&#8221;. Click the &#8220;Notification area&#8221; tab, then select  \t\t&#8220;Customize&#8221;. Find &#8220;Safely remove hardware&#8221; and click it to select it.  \t\tThen, click on the right where it says &#8220;Hide when inactive&#8221; or &#8220;Show&#8221;  \t\tand change it to &#8220;Hide&#8221; and click OK. Then click &#8220;Apply&#8221; and then &#8220;OK&#8221;  \t\tagain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Windows 7 users &#8211; have no fear &#8211; you have nothing to remove.
