Back in the day when Gmail was just starting out, the only way to get an email account was by invitation only. One of our subscribers &#8220;invited&#8221; us, and we both set up a Gmail account. Gmail gave us each 50 invitations to send to others, and during those days we gave away invitations via our newsletters.<\/p>\n<p>Now of course, anyone can get a Gmail account just by going to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmail.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.gmail.com\/<\/a> <\/span>and signing up. We use Gmail for our business because it works for us. We control spam with it, we stay organized with it, and now, thanks again to the folks at Gmail &#8211; we stay safer with it.<\/p>\n<p>Gmail just added 2 safety features designed to keep its users safer.<\/p>\n<p>This is from the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/gsy08F\" target=\"_blank\">Gmail Blog<\/a><\/span>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1. If you receive a message from, or are about to send a message to, someone whose email service doesn\u2019t support TLS encryption, you\u2019ll see a broken lock icon in the message.<\/p>\n<p>2. If you receive a message that can\u2019t be authenticated, you\u2019ll see a question mark in place of the sender\u2019s profile photo, corporate logo, or avatar.<\/p>\n<p>Not all affected email will necessarily be dangerous. But we encourage you to be extra careful about replying to, or clicking on links in messages that you\u2019re not sure about. And with these updates, you\u2019ll have the tools to make these kinds of decisions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Gmail has always been an innovator. It was the first to offer gigabytes of space when Hotmail and Yahoo were offering a few megabytes.
