It\u2019s like a modern day Windows XP. Well, maybe not that good, but certainly one of the best Windows ever.<\/p>\n<p>One thing that makes Windows 10 unique is its customization features \u2013 for instance Notification icons.. Those are the icons that appear in the area on the right-hand side of your taskbar (assuming your taskbar is at the bottom) next to the clock.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s easy to control what shows and doesn\u2019t show up in the Notification portion of the taskbar \u2013 and we\u2019re going show you just how easy it is.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Right-click on any empty area of your taskbar and select \u201cProperties\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Click on Customize (see image below):<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2015\/notification-customize.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"386\" height=\"513\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Settings dialog will open to \u201cSystem\u201d \u201cNotifications &amp; actions\u201d (see below):<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2015\/notification-customize1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"387\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click on \u201cSelect which icons appear in on the taskbar\u2026\u201d (this will be in the notification area to the left of the clock).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2015\/notification-customize2a.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"541\" height=\"606\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you want something to always show in the portion of the taskbar to the very left of the clock slide the on\/off switch to On.<\/li>\n<li>See below I switched \u201cFaststone Capture\u201d to On \u2013 so now it shows in my the area of my Taskbar near the clock \u2013 or what we generally call the Notification area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2015\/notification-customize4c.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"478\" height=\"361\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>And below you can see Faststone Capture now appears in the Notification area of the Taskbar:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2015\/notification-customize4d.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"383\" height=\"166\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And while we on the subject, don\u2019t for the little up arrow (circled in white above). This displays the other, hidden icons, in the Notification area.<\/p>\n<p>So now you know how to make an icon show in the Notification area of the taskbar.
