All the children’s eyes are smiling,
\nChristmas Eve is finally here!
\nOutside my window snow is falling,
\nThis brightest evening of the year.<\/p>\n

Children dream of Christmas morning;
\nSanta Claus is on the way …
\nAnd I, a father, watch it snowing,
\nAnd drift back to another day<\/p>\n

When I, a child, watched in wonder
\nAs Christmas filled the world with joy.
\nI see myself, in faded shadows,
\nLong ago, a little boy.<\/p>\n

The house is quiet, dark, and still,
\nAnd I can\u2019t sleep although I\u2019m trying.
\nThe children\u2019s dreams are filled with visions
\nOf Santa Claus and reindeer flying.<\/p>\n

In the silence of this evening
\nI watch the winter snowflakes fall;
\nTime is such a precious gift\u2026
\nBut love’s the greatest gift of all.<\/p>\n
