How to Set a Home Page in Your Browser<\/span><\/h1>\n

This tip has been updated. You can use this tutorial to set a home page in Chrome, Firefox, and\/or Edge.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

One of the questions we are asked the most is how to set a home page in a browser. It’s a fundamental question and something we answer often. So this was written as a reference in case you need to set a\u00a0 browser home page and you forgot how.<\/span><\/p>\n

A browser home page, also called a start page, is the page (or pages) you see when you open your browser, We strongly suggest not setting more than one or two pages to open when you start your browser. If you use more than one or two home pages, it will take your browser longer to open.<\/span><\/p>\n

The fastest way (but certainly not the only way) to set a single home page in\u00a0Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome is to first\u00a0visit the page you want to make your home page \u2014for example \u2013\u00a0http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/start\/<\/a> \u00a0. Once you are on the page that you would like to make your home or start page, follow the instructions below for your browser:<\/span><\/p>\n

Google Chrome<\/span><\/h2>\n

Open Chrome.<\/span><\/p>\n

Type or copy & paste the following into Chrome’s address bar:<\/span><\/p>\n

chrome:\/\/settings\/onStartup<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Under the heading \u201cOn startup\u201d, tick the circle next to \u201cOpen a specific page or set of pages\u201d then click on \u201cAdd a new page\u201d.\u00a0 Under add a new page, type the address of the site you want to be your home page. For example, our home pages are http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/start\/ <\/a> and https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/<\/a> see the screenshot below…<\/span><\/p>\n

Now close Chrome and reopen it,\u00a0 Whatever site you typed in under \u201cAdd a new page\u201d will be your browser\u2019s home page.<\/span><\/p>\n

Firefox<\/span><\/h2>\n

Click on the settings icon at the top right ( 3 horizontal lines). Then choose Options from the Settings menu.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the General section that opens, under startup, next to \u201cWhen Firefox starts\u201d click the down arrow (see below) and choose \u201cShow your home page\u201d from the menu.<\/span><\/p>\n

One more step. Next to Home Page type the web address (URL) of the site you want to be your home page. If there is already a URL there, just highlight it and delete it and type in your home page URL.\"Cloudeight<\/span><\/p>\n

Microsoft Edge<\/span><\/h2>\n

Microsoft has simplified setting a home page in Microsoft Edge.<\/span><\/p>\n

To set a home page in\u00a0 Microsoft Edge, follow the instructions below:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Click on Edge\u2019s settings icon (3 dots). From the drop down settings menu find \u201cOpen Microsoft Edge with\u201d and click the down arrow.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    From the \u201cOpen Microsoft Edge with\u201d drop down menu, select \u201cA specific page or pages\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Type the URL (Web address) of the site you want to be your home page (below we used our Cloudeight Start Page URL which is http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/start\/ )\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

    And don\u2019t forget to click the Save icon (see below) or all your work will be for naught.<\/span><\/p>\n
