This is only a notification that some people had problems with it and Microsoft pulled the update from their update page and also from Windows Update. So if you already have it and you&#8217;re not having any problems, then that&#8217;s great &#8211; leave it alone.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">We&#8217;ve removed our post on how to upgrade to Windows 10 October 2018 Update because of serious issues with the update. We became aware\u00a0 of the problems with Windows 10 version 1809 (October 2018 Update) early this morning that this updated was removed from Microsoft <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/software-download\/windows10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Windows 10&#8217;s &#8220;Update assistant&#8221; &amp; &#8220;Download tool&#8221; page<\/a><\/span>. The page now says &#8220;April 2018&#8221; update (Version 1803) which had its own set of problems causing Microsoft to delay its release by several weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Once again it appears that Microsoft rushed out another update that was not ready for prime time and caused a significant number of users to lose personal files during the update.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The following is courtesy of The Verge:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h1 class=\"c-page-title\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Microsoft pulls Windows 10 October 2018 Update after reports of documents being deleted<\/span><\/h1>\n<p id=\"fa0MEz\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Microsoft has stopped distributing its latest Windows 10 October 2018 Update. The software giant started rolling out the update during the company\u2019s Surface event earlier this week, but\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2018\/10\/5\/17940902\/microsoft-windows-10-october-2018-update-deleting-documents-issues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">some Windows 10 immediately noticed their documents were being deleted<\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0 &#8216;We have paused the rollout of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) for all users as we investigate isolated reports of users missing some files after updating,&#8217;\u00a0 says Microsoft on its<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4464619\/windows-10-update-history\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">support site<\/a><\/span>\u00a0for Windows Update.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"goDfCb\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Microsoft is now recommending that affected users contact the company directly, and if you\u2019ve manually downloaded the October update then \u201cplease don\u2019t install it and wait until new media is available.\u201d Other\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/answers.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/forum\/windows_10-networking\/microsoft-edge-and-other-microsoft-store-apps\/75ac54dd-cd56-41d8-a205-7948e54f39be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Windows 10 users have been complaining<\/span><\/a>\u00a0that the Microsoft Edge browser and other store apps have been unable to connect to the internet after the October 2018 Update, and the update was even\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.intel.com\/content\/www\/us\/en\/support\/articles\/000030792\/graphics-drivers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blocked on certain PCs<\/a><\/span>\u00a0due to Intel driver incompatibilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"c-float-right\">\n<aside id=\"1W7elT\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><q>WINDOWS 10 IS TESTED BY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE<\/q><\/span><\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"d5an8a\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">It\u2019s not clear how many Windows 10 users are affected by the problem, but even if it\u2019s a small percentage it\u2019s still surprising this issue was never picked up during Microsoft\u2019s vast testing of the October update. Millions of people\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2017\/3\/27\/15076764\/microsoft-windows-10-windows-insiders-10-million-testers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">help Microsoft test Windows 10<\/a>,<\/span> but the company has struggled with the quality of Windows updates recently.
