This does not apply to Windows 10 version updates. If a version update causes you problems, by default, you have 10 days to go back to the previous version of Windows 10. This option is available in Settings &gt; Update &amp; Security &gt; Recovery. But it&#8217;s only available for 10 days after you install new version of Windows 10. If you haven&#8217;t recently installed a new version of Windows or if it&#8217;s been more then 10 days since you installed a new version of Windows, you won&#8217;t see this option.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"auto-style1\" style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In Windows 10 Home, your computer s always kept up to date with the latest cumulative updates, patches and fixes. This means, for those of us using Windows 10 Home, we don&#8217;t have a lot of control over installing updates. Windows Updates are installed automatically, and users have don&#8217;t have much choice or control with some exceptions mainly 3rd-party software updates and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/how-to-stop-windows-10-from-automatically-updating-drivers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">driver updates.<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><br class=\"auto-style1\" \/><span class=\"auto-style1\" style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">However we all know that sometimes a Windows 10 update can cause problems.\u00a0 And when this happens\u00a0 you have the option to uninstall a problematic update. But it it will automatically re-install the next time Windows updates&#8230; unless you take steps to prevent it.\u00a0 We&#8217;re going to show you a way to prevent\u00a0 problematic updates from reinstalling automatically.<\/span><br class=\"auto-style1\" \/><br class=\"auto-style1\" \/><span class=\"auto-style1\" style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If an update is causing system crashes, problems or instability on your PC, follow the instructions below to prevent the unwanted update from automatically reinstalling.<\/span><br class=\"auto-style1\" \/><br class=\"auto-style1\" \/><span class=\"auto-style1\" style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Go to Settings &gt; Update &amp; Security &gt; Windows Updates .and then click on View update history:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"auto-style1\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2018\/vuh.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows 10 Tips \" width=\"341\" height=\"351\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style1\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Then click on Uninstall updates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"auto-style1\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2018\/vuh1.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows 10 Tips \" width=\"344\" height=\"191\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"auto-style1\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2018\/vuh3.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows 10 Tips \" width=\"567\" height=\"374\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style1\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">To uninstall the unwanted update, select it from the list by clicking on it and then click Uninstall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style1\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Now, you&#8217;re all set&#8230; until the next time Windows updates and reinstalls the update you just worked so hard to uninstall. It&#8217;s OK. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style1\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">But if you want to uninstall the update and also prevent Windows from reinstalling trouble-causing updates. You&#8217;ll need to a special\u00a0<span class=\"auto-style1\">troubleshooter available from Microsoft. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style1\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span class=\"auto-style1\">The troubleshooter provides a user interface for hiding and showing Windows Updates for Windows 10. You can obtain and run the &#8220;Show or hide updates&#8221; troubleshooter\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/download.microsoft.com\/download\/f\/2\/2\/f22d5fdb-59cd-4275-8c95-1be17bf70b21\/wushowhide.diagcab\">by downloading it from the Microsoft Download Center<\/a><\/span>:<\/span><br class=\"auto-style1\" \/><br class=\"auto-style1\" \/><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span class=\"auto-style1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/download.microsoft.com\/download\/f\/2\/2\/f22d5fdb-59cd-4275-8c95-1be17bf70b21\/wushowhide.diagcab\">Download the &#8220;Show or hide updates&#8221; troubleshooter package now<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><br class=\"auto-style1\" \/><br class=\"auto-style1\" \/><span class=\"auto-style1\" style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">When you click on the download link, you will be prompted to open or save\u00a0<em>wushowhide.diagcab<\/em>. Save it to your PC, and click to run it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"auto-style1\" style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Opening\u00a0<em>wushowhide.diagcab<\/em>\u00a0will launch the troubleshooter. Then click Next to proceed and follow the instructions provided by the troubleshooter to hide the problematic driver or update.<\/span><br class=\"auto-style1\" \/><br class=\"auto-style1\" \/><span class=\"auto-style1\" style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">When the program starts to run, you&#8217;ll see it scanning your computer for updates &#8211; may take a minute or two. When it&#8217;s done, you&#8217;ll see a window like this one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"auto-style1\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2018\/vuh3a.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve\" width=\"599\" height=\"469\" \/><\/span><br class=\"auto-style1\" \/><span class=\"auto-style1\" style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Click on &#8220;Hide updates&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style1\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Windows will display all pending updates:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"auto-style1\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2018\/vuh4.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve\" width=\"567\" height=\"449\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style1\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">You&#8217;ll be presented with a list of available updates. Select the update or updates that are causing you problems. Windows will not reinstall the items you select.\u00a0 You can choose to install\u00a0 the hidden updates later by running the troubleshooter again and &#8220;unhiding&#8221; the updates by running the troubleshooter again, then click &#8220;Show hidden updates&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">REMEMBER!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style1\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">This tip does not stop updates from installing in the first place. It only allows you to prevent problematic updates that you have uninstalled from reinstalling automatically with Windows Update. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style1\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Also, this tip does not apply to version updates (Windows 10 version 1709, Version 1803, etc). Windows 10 version updates have a rollback feature.
