NO! Not EB, she&#8217;s not fictional!). I have a favorite character in a book I&#8217;m writing (it may never get done). Her name is Lucy Jupiter &#8211; she&#8217;s a hero. So in her honor, I&#8217;m going to make a user account for her today&#8230; a new Windows 10 local account named Jupiter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Here&#8217;s a quick and easy way to add a local account to your Windows 10 computer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Type CMD in the Windows taskbar search (Cortana).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">When Command Prompt appears at the top of the search results, right-click it and choose \u201cRun as administrator\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">At the prompt type:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><code><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">net user &lt;username&gt; \/add<\/span><\/code><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Where you see &lt;username&gt; type the username you want to use without the brackets.\u00a0 In this example, I&#8217;m going to use Jupiter as the user name.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">After you enter the user name you want to use, leave a space before the slash. See below:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/addlocal.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve Windows Tips &amp; Tricks\" width=\"571\" height=\"187\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you did that right, you\u2019ll see \u201cThe command completed successfully.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you want to add a password for the user account \u201cJupiter\u201d (or whatever <strong>your<\/strong> new account is called) run the following command<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">net user Jupiter &lt;password&gt;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Instead of &lt;password&gt; you\u2019d type the password you want to use for this account.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">For example:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><code><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">net user Jupiter GR00Vi3s<\/span><\/code><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/addlocal-pass.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve Windows tips\" width=\"509\" height=\"121\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And if you did that correctly, Windows will reward you by reponding: &#8220;The command completed successfully&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Now open Settings (Windows key + i) and click Accounts &gt; Family &amp; other people&gt; Other people and you\u2019ll see the account you just created. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And as you can see, there is good old Jupiter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/addlocal1.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve Windows 10 Tips\" width=\"567\" height=\"654\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Now can I make Jupiter an administrator if I want to? Of course! And it&#8217;s easy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In Settings &gt; Family &amp; other people &gt; Other people, click on Jupiter and click the &#8220;Change account type&#8221; button.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/addlocal2.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve\" width=\"567\" height=\"308\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And then click the down arrow next to Standard user, choose Administrator and then click OK.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/addlocal3.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And voila! Jupiter (or user new user) now has a password-protected, local account with administrator privileges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/addlocal4.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you set a password for your new local account, make sure you remember it &#8211; or whoever you made it for remembers it &#8211;\u00a0 or this account will be useless.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you want to try out the new account, press Windows Key + L. Click the lock screen, on the log in screen you\u2019ll see your new account. Click to select it and log in. The first time you log in it will take some extra time as Windows will set up the account for its first use.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">What if you no longer want this account?
