A Quick and Easy Way to Add a New Local User Account in Windows 10<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

Windows usually gives users three or more ways to do the same thing. But this is a quick and easy way to create a new local account in Windows 10.<\/p>\n

Type CMD in the Windows taskbar search (Cortana)<\/p>\n

When Command Prompt appears, right-click it and choose \u201cRun as administrator\u201d<\/p>\n

At the prompt type:<\/p>\n

net user <username> \/add<\/p>\n

Where you see <username> type the username\u00a0 of the account you want to create without the brackets. Blacklist was one of my favorite Netflix shows, and the villain I loved to hate is named Reddington. So, I\u2019m going to make a new local account named Reddington.<\/p>\n

After entering the user name you want to use, leave a space before the slash. See below:<\/p>\n

If you did that right, you\u2019ll see \u201cThe command has completed successfully.\u201d<\/p>\n

If you want to add a password for the user account \u201cReddington\u201d (or whatever your new account is called) run the following command<\/p>\n

net user Reddington <password><\/p>\n

Instead of <password> you\u2019d type the password you want to use (minus the brackets) when you log in to this account.<\/p>\n

For example:<\/p>\n

net user Reddington eatingmoondaisies<\/p>\n

Now open Settings (Windows key + i) and click Accounts > Family & other people> Other people\u2026 you\u2019ll see the account you created. As you can see, there is good old Reddington.<\/p>\n

Now how did I make old Reddington an administrator? Easy. In Settings > Family & other people > Other people, click on Reddington\u2026<\/p>\n

Click the down arrow next to Standard user, choose Administrator and click OK.<\/p>\n

Now, if you set a password for your new local account, please make sure you remember it or this account will be useless.<\/p>\n

Now, if you want to try out your new account, press Windows Key + L.<\/p>\n

Click the lock screen, on the log in screen you\u2019ll see your new account. Click to select it and log in. The first time you log in it will take some extra time as Windows will set up the account for its first use.<\/p>\n

What if you no longer want this account? No problem, you can divest yourself of this account easily:<\/p>\n

Open Settings > Accounts > Family & other people > Other people, click on the new account you created and click \u201cRemove\u201d<\/p>\n
