{"id":16943,"date":"2019-06-13T17:10:25","date_gmt":"2019-06-13T21:10:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/?p=16943"},"modified":"2019-06-13T20:53:24","modified_gmt":"2019-06-14T00:53:24","slug":"two-more-features-of-windows-10-version-1903-we-think-youll-like","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/two-more-features-of-windows-10-version-1903-we-think-youll-like\/","title":{"rendered":"Two More Features of Windows 10 Version 1903 We Think You&#8217;ll Like"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 28pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Two More Features of Windows 10 Version 1903 We Think You&#8217;ll Like<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">As more and more of you will be updating to Windows 10 Version 1903 (May 2019 Update), we&#8217;re going to be telling you about some of the features we like and that we think many of you will like as well.\u00a0 The two features we&#8217;re featuring in this tip are: Pause Windows Updates and a new, easier way to access symbols like <strong>\u00a2\u20b6\u20b1\u00a9\u00ae\u2117\u00f7\u2103\u00b0\u2109<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>Pause Windows Updates<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">In Windows 10 Version 1903 you can pause regular Windows updates for up to 7 days (version updates are different and we&#8217;ll cover those later).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Open Settings (Windows Key + i ), click on Updates &amp; Security and look under Windows Updates. You&#8217;ll see this:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/pause1903.png\" alt=\"Windows 10 Tips - Cloudeight InfoAve\" width=\"441\" height=\"485\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">As you can see above, you will now be able to pause regular Windows updates for up to 7 days. If you click on &#8220;Advanced options&#8221; you&#8217;ll see this:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/pause1903-1.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve Windows 10 Tips\" width=\"589\" height=\"136\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">You&#8217;ll be able to choose the date on which you want to install the update(s) on. You can move updates back a maximum of seven days. Note: You can only pause them for seven days.\u00a0 You will need to install the updates before you can pause updates again. Remember this applies to regular Windows updates. You&#8217;ll be able to pause version updates for much longer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>Easier Access to Symbols<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Until Windows 10 Version 1903, in order to access symbols on Windows PCs, you have open the ungainly Character Map utility by typing CharMap into a run box or taskbar search.\u00a0 Remember the Windows Character Map?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/charmap.png\" alt=\"Windows Character Map - Cloudeight InfoAve Windows Tips\" width=\"497\" height=\"434\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Windows 10 Version 1903 introduces a new, easier way to access symbols. You can now access symbols in Windows 10&#8217;s Emoji pad.\u00a0 And there&#8217;s a new shortcut to open the Emoji pad too &#8211; Windows key + ;\u00a0 (Windows key plus the semi-colon key).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/symbols-1903.png\" alt=\"Symbols on the Emoji Pad in Windows 10 Version 1903\" width=\"349\" height=\"349\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">You can change character sets by clicking on the symbols on the bottom row.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/symbols-1903-1.png\" alt=\"Windows 10 V.1903 Symbols in Emoji Pad - Cloudeight InfoAve Windows tips\" width=\"378\" height=\"359\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">A great idea and a much easier more logical way to access symbols that you use often. Now I can say it&#8217;s been a chilly day here today, the high was only 61 \u2109 instead of writing out 61 degrees (F).\u00a0 Or I can say EB is \u00bd baked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Now, we think, you&#8217;ll actually start using symbols instead of avoiding them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">\u00a9\u00ae\u201e\u2117\u2078\u2163\u215e\u215b\u00b0\u00ae\u00c2\u00e2\u010c\u00a2\u20b6\u2078\u266a<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And, we know there are at least a dozen freeware programs that make using symbols easier than the old Character Map did, but this is a really nice addition to Windows, it&#8217;s really easy to use, and you don&#8217;t need to download a special program &#8211; free or otherwise &#8211; to have symbols at your fingertips.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Don&#8217;t have Windows 10 Version 1903 yet? Not a problem. You can save this article as a PDF file, print it, or send it to yourself by email by using the big green &#8220;Print Friendly&#8221; button at the top of this article.
