What You Need to Do If a Windows 10 Version Update Causes Major Problems<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

Many of you will be updating your Windows 10 computers to Windows 10 May 2019 – Version 1903 soon.\u00a0 So now is a good time to remind you that if you have major problems after installing a Windows 10 Version update, there are two things you can do. <\/span><\/p>\n

First, shut your computer off – completely power it off – and leave it off for approx. 5 minutes then turn it back on. Many times this will resolve problems, but if it does not, you can use the following method to roll back the update and return to the previous version of Windows 10. And the good news is if you do roll back this way you will not lose any programs or data as long as go back to the previous version of\u00a0 Windows 10 within 10 days of installing the version update. After 10 days, this option will no longer be available unless you make some changes<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here’s the right way to go back to the previous version of Windows if a version update such as the May 2019 Update – version 1903 causes you major problems.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Right-click the Start button and click Settings (Or press the Windows Key + i )<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Click on \u201cUpdate & Security”<\/span><\/p>\n

3. In \u201cUpdate & Security\u201d click on \u201cRecovery\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

4. In Recovery, you will have 3 options \u201cReset this PC\u201d, \u201cGo Back to the previous version of Windows 10\u201d and \u201cAdvanced startup\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Once you click “Get started” it will take from 45 to 60 minutes to complete the rollback.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t see \u201cGo Back to the previous version of Windows 10\u201d as one of your choices then:<\/span><\/p>\n

a.) The update was not a version update.<\/span><\/p>\n

b.) You didn\u2019t act soon enough (within 10 days) and too much time has passed since the version update was installed.<\/span><\/p>\n

c:) You see the option but it\u2019s not clickable or doesn\u2019t work \u2013 you have waited too long.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, now you know what to do if the new Windows 10 May 2019 Update (version 1903) – or any Windows 10 version update – causes you major problems.<\/span><\/p>\n
