Microsoft Blocks Windows 10 Upgrades For Some Avast and Avg Users<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n If you’re using Avast or AVG, heads up!<\/span><\/p>\n Microsoft has announced it will block some AVG and Avast users from updating to Windows 10 version 1903 (May 2019 Update) and Windows 10 version 1909 (Windows 10 November 2019 Update).<\/span><\/p>\n For more details read this post from ZDNet:<\/span><\/p>\n …Users of some VG and Avast antivirus software may be prevented from upgrading to the latest version of Windows 10 due to a compatibility issue.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Microsoft has blocked upgrades to both Windows 10 versions 1909 and 1903 for AVG and Avast users running version 19.5.4444.567 or earlier.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n ‘To safeguard your upgrade experience, we have applied a hold on devices with affected Avast and AVG Antivirus from being offered or installing Windows 10, version 1903 or Windows 10, version 1909, until the application is updated,’ Microsoft says.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n To get around the block, users will need to download and install an updated version of Avast or AVG.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The updates and installation instructions for updating the antivirus software are available on Avast<\/span><\/a> and AVG support pages<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n While this is the first time Microsoft has reported a compatibility block for AVG and Avast, some users have reported being unable to install version 1903 since August.<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Avast acquired AVG in 2016<\/span><\/a>. AVG’s page notes the block affects AVG Ultimate 19.5 and lower, AVG Internet Security 19.5 and lower, and AVG AntiVirus FREE 19.5 and lower.
