It\u2019s easy to do and there are a lot of good reasons why you should make one. Microsoft makes it easy for you to make installation media \u2013 at least for now. Who knows what Microsoft will do tomorrow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>What can you do with a Windows 10 installation DVD or USB? <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Here are 3 important things you can do with Windows 10 installation USB or DVD:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>You can boot your computer<\/strong> with an installation USB or DVD if your computer won\u2019t boot normally<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>You can access troubleshooting tools.<\/strong> If your PC won\u2019t boot normally you can boot with an installation USB or DVD and access troubleshooting and other tools.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>You can use your Windows 10 installation USB or DVD to do a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/fix-major-windows-10-problems-by-doing-a-repair-installation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">repair installation<\/a> of Windows 10<\/strong> which, if completed successfully preserves all your personal files, settings, and all installed programs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">You can use a Windows 10 installation USB or DVD to clean install Windows on a new hard drive.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">First things first. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/software-download\/windows10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> You\u2019ll need to go to this Microsoft page<\/a><\/strong>, scroll down past \u201cUpdate now\u201d and go to the section called \u201cCreate Windows 10 installation media\u201d. See?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2020\/installmedia1.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows tips &amp; tricks\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Next, click on the blue button labeled \u201cDownload tool now\u201d. Then, after you\u2019ve downloaded it, double-click on the application to run it.\u00a0 When you do that, you will see the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2020\/win-iso1.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows tips &amp; tricks\" width=\"567\" height=\"486\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">When it\u2019s done loading, click \u201cNext\u201d and agree to Microsoft\u2019s terms. Click Accept:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2020\/win-iso2.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows tips &amp; tricks\" width=\"567\" height=\"491\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Now the important stuff.<\/strong> Since you want to make an installation USB or DVD, make sure you tick the circle next to \u201cCreate installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC\u201d.\u00a0 Then click \u201cNext\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2020\/win-iso3.png\" width=\"567\" height=\"491\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you\u2019re creating installation media for the same PC\u00a0 you\u2019re using now, leave the box ticked next to \u201cUse the recommended options for this PC \u201d ticked. Most of you will want to leave this box ticked and click \u201cNext\u201d. If you\u2019re creating installation media for a different PC, untick the box next to \u201cUse the recommended options for this PC \u201c, then select the language, edition of Windows 10 (Windows 10, Windows 10 Pro, etc.), and the architecture (32-bit, 64-bit) of the PC for which you\u2019re creating the installation media.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2020\/win-iso4.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows tips &amp; tricks\" width=\"692\" height=\"599\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Next: Choose which type of installation media you want to create. Choose USB if you have an 8GB (or larger) USB Flash Drive. A new, never-used flash drive is best, but you can use one you\u2019ve used before, but keep in mind whatever data is on the flash drive will be erased. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Choose ISO if you want to create a Windows 10 installation DVD. You can burn the ISO file to DVD later. After you\u2019ve made your choice, click \u201cNext\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2020\/win-iso5.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve Windows tips &amp; tricks\" width=\"567\" height=\"491\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">After you click next, go make some coffee and relax. Windows 10 media file (ISO or USB) will take a while to download as it\u2019s around 3.4 GB in size. For this article, I chose to download the ISO file so I can burn a Windows 10 Installation DVD later. But either way, you\u2019re still going to be downloading over 3 GB of data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2020\/win-iso7a.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve Windows tips &amp; tricks\" width=\"567\" height=\"491\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you choose the USB option just follow the onscreen prompts. If you downloaded the ISO to create a Windows 10 installation DVD, see below:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Insert a new, dual-layer (DL) DVD-R in the CD\/DVD drive<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Right-click on the ISO file you downloaded and choose \u201cBurn to disc\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">We suggest you tick the box to verify the disk after burning.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Once complete,\u00a0 you can use the installation DVD to boot your computer.\u00a0 Just put the DVD in the DVD drive, and shut off your computer. Turn the computer on and you&#8217;ll see a message on the screen that says &#8220;Press any key to boot from DVD or USB&#8221; (or similar). Press a key and your computer will boot from the DVD.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And whether you choose the Windows 10 USB flash drive installation media or the Windows 10 ISO and made a Windows 10 installation disk, make sure you label it so you know what it is \u2013 and keep it in a safe place.
