The trouble is, it was published before many people had the new Microsoft Edge. Well, five months later, almost all Windows 10 users have the new Edge, so more people will be able to benefit from this tip.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">One of the best features of the new Microsoft Edge is that you can use any Google Chrome extension from the Google Chrome store in it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">But to use Google Chrome extensions in the new Microsoft Edge, you\u2019ll need to make one simple adjustment to Edge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">How to Set Up Edge to Allow Chrome Extensions<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">To use Chrome extensions in Edge, you\u2019ll need to set it up to allow extensions from \u201cother stores\u201d. And that\u2019s very easy to do. Click on the three horizontal dots in the top right corner of Edge to open the Edge \u201csettings\u201d menu. From the drop-down menu select \u201cExtensions\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">In the Extension dialog, look near the bottom and you\u2019ll see a switch next to \u201cAllow extensions from other stores\u201d. Turn the switch on. You\u2019ll get a warning but you can safely ignore it and leave the switch turned on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2020\/chromex.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve - How to Use Chrome Extensions in the New Microsoft Edge\" width=\"332\" height=\"568\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Once you turn the switch on, you\u2019ll be able to install Chrome extensions in the new Microsoft Edge the same way you install extensions in Chrome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Let\u2019s take a look.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Below I\u2019m going to install the Mercury Reader extension for Chrome in Microsoft Edge. Note the message at the top of the page that says <em>\u201cYou can now add extensions from the Chrome Web store to Microsoft Edge \u2014 Click on \u201cAdd to Chrome\u201d.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2020\/chromex1.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve - How to Use Chrome Extensions in the New Microsoft Edge\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">You\u2019ll see a message verifying that you want to add the Mercury Reader extension to Microsoft Edge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2020\/chromex2.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve - How to Use Chrome Extensions in the New Microsoft Edge\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">To add the extension, click \u201cAdd extension\u201d. You\u2019ll then see a confirmation that the extension \u2013 in this case, \u201cMercury Reader\u201d has been added to Microsoft Edge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2020\/chromex3.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve - How to Use Chrome Extensions in the New Microsoft Edge\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>You can add any extension from the Chrome Web Store to Microsoft Edge.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">After I added Mercury Reader, I then added <a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/nzqap3p\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LastPass from the Chrome Web Store<\/a> to the new Microsoft Edge. And you can see in the screenshot below, the extensions show up in the new Microsoft Edge just as they do in Google Chrome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2020\/chromex-in-edge1.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve - How to Use Chrome Extensions in the New Microsoft Edge\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">I have not been a fan of Microsoft browsers for quite a long time. But the new Microsoft Chromium-based Edge is the best browser Microsoft has ever made. I like it almost as well as\u00a0 Chrome.\u00a0 I can see a lot of folks who don\u2019t like Google. for whatever reason, or who are currently using Firefox, might make the switch to the new Microsoft Edge &#8211; it is a great browser.
