Windows 10 Tricks Just for the Geek in You<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Windows Run Dialog is still a useful tool even in Windows 10 where it has largely been supplanted by taskbar search. But some of these more \u201cgeeky\u201d commands have to be run from a Windows Run box\u2026 but not all.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s open a Run dialog (or Run box as we call it):<\/span><\/p>\n

Right-click on the Windows 10 start button and click \u201cRun\u201d. Or press Windows key + R<\/span><\/p>\n

Now that we have that out of the way, let\u2019s do some geeky stuff!<\/span><\/p>\n

Open the C: Drive <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1. Open a Run box<\/span>
\n2. Type a backward slash \u2013 (that would be this: \\ ) in the Run box<\/span>
\n3. Press Enter<\/span><\/p>\n

Open the Users folder<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1. Open a Run box<\/span>
\n2. Type two dots in the Run box<\/span>
\n3. Press Enter<\/span>

Check your PC for performance issues<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1. Open a Run box<\/span>
\n2. Type RESMON in the Run box<\/span>
\n3. Press Enter<\/span><\/p>\n

(Hey, you\u2019re right! You can also type this in taskbar search and run it.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Search directly from a Run box<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1. Open a Run box<\/span>
\n2. Type CHROME \u201c?Search\u201d in the Run box \u2013 replacing the word Search with whatever your searching for<\/span>
\n3. Press Enter<\/span><\/p>\n

You can used your favorite browser instead of Chrome. Type Firefox instead of Chrome to use Firefox; type IEXPLORE to use Internet Explorer; type Microsoft-Edge to use Microsoft Edge.<\/span><\/p>\n
