I am not sure about this, but I\u2019m not a brainy scientist and I&#8217;m surely not well-paid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Not being a scientist, and just an ordinary Joe, I&#8217;d say if you want to fall asleep faster, just don&#8217;t use your computer at night &#8211; or drink some warm milk&#8230; or a nice &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.epicurious.com\/recipes\/food\/views\/hot-toddy-233821\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hot Toddy&#8221;<\/a><\/span> or two before you hit the sack.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">But if you insist on using your computer at night &#8211; and if the scientists are right &#8211; it would behoove you to know that Windows 10 has a feature that automatically &#8220;warms&#8221; your screen colors after dark, and thus eliminate those harsh blue rays of light beaming from your computer screen into your eyeballs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And that, according to those with gigantic IQs, lab jackets, and lots of your tax dollars, will help you fall asleep faster.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>How to turn on Windows 10s&#8217; Night light feature<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Right-click the Start button and click on &#8220;Settings&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In Settings click on &#8220;System&#8221; and from the menu on the left, click on &#8220;Display&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In Display, beneath the &#8220;Change brightness&#8221; slider, you\u2019ll see \u201cNight light\u201d. First, you will need to turn the on\/off switch under &#8220;Night light&#8221; to \u201cOn\u201d. Duh!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2017\/nightlightw.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows Tips &amp; Tricks\" width=\"572\" height=\"462\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Then click on \u201cNight light settings\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span class=\"auto-style790\" style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> <span class=\"auto-style747\"> <span class=\"auto-style1\"><span class=\"normaltext\"> <span class=\"auto-style67\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2017\/nightlightw1.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows Tips &amp; Tricks\" width=\"486\" height=\"629\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">As you can see in the screenshot above, you can use the slider to adjust the \u201cwarmness\u201d of your screen colors for your nighttime viewing pleasure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Next, you\u2019ll want to schedule the hours the screen will display those warmer colors. I don\u2019t have my location turned on in Windows 10, but if you want Windows to know your location, you can click Location settings, and Windows will automatically warm your screen colors at sunset in your location and turn off the Night light feature at sunrise in your location. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you think it&#8217;s creepy that Windows knows what time the sun rises and sets in your neck of the woods, you can manually set the hours you want your screen to display warmer colors for your nighttime viewing pleasure. Just tick the circle next to &#8220;Set hours&#8221;, and set the hours you want to turn the Night light feature on and off, see?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span class=\"auto-style790\" style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> <span class=\"auto-style747\"> <span class=\"auto-style1\"><span class=\"normaltext\"> <span class=\"auto-style67\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2017\/nightlightw2.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows Tips &amp; Tricks\" width=\"466\" height=\"509\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">I have my \u201cNight light\u201d set to turn on at 9:00 PM and turn off at 7:00 AM.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">I am not sure how well looking at warmer screen colors at night helps me sleep, at my age, I can barely stay awake past 9:00 PM anyway. You think I&#8217;m kidding, don&#8217;t you? Sadly, I&#8217;m not.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Whether you believe the &#8220;warm-colors-help-you-fall-asleep-faster&#8221; theory or not, now you know about the \u201cNight light\u201d feature in Windows 10.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style803\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And, if you fall asleep faster, after turning the Night light feature on, let us know!
