So, it&#8217;s always a good idea to keep the number of programs that start with Windows under control.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Windows 10 uses Task Manager\/Startup and\/or Settings &gt; Apps &gt; Startup to help manage programs that start with Windows 10.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Open Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) or right-click the Start button and click &#8220;Task Manager&#8221;.\u00a0 Then, in Task Manager, click the &#8220;Startup&#8221; at the top.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"auto-style796\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2021\/tman-startup.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve Computer Tips &amp; Ticks\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style804\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">You&#8217;ll see a list of programs that are starting with Windows. You&#8217;ll have the option to disable ones you don&#8217;t want starting up with Windows by right-clicking them and choosing &#8220;Disable&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Another way is to use Settings\/Apps.\u00a0 Right-click on the Start button and click &#8220;Settings&#8221;. In Settings, click &#8220;Apps&#8221;. On the &#8220;Apps&#8221; page click Startup and you&#8217;ll see a list of programs starting with Windows. Use the On\/Off switches to control your startup programs<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"auto-style796\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2021\/apps-start.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve Computer Tips &amp; Ticks\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style804\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">And here&#8217;s another way to see all the programs starting with Windows 10:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">1. Type COMMAND in the taskbar search &amp; press Enter when Command Prompt appears<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">2. In the Command Prompt window, type <strong>WMIC<\/strong> and press Enter<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">3. In a second you should <strong>wmic:root\\cli&gt;<\/strong> appear.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">4. At the <strong>wmic:root\\cli&gt;<\/strong> prompt type:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>startup<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">and press enter<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">5. If you did all that correctly, you\u2019ll see a list of programs starting with Windows 10.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"auto-style790\" style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"> <span class=\"auto-style747\"> <span class=\"auto-style9\"><span class=\"auto-style7\"> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"auto-style796\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2021\/wmic-start1.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve Computer Tips &amp; Ticks\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">If you find that startups you disabled in Task Manager or Settings\/Apps\/Startup are not disabled, and are still starting with Windows, you can use the Startup utility in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/ro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reg Organizer<\/a><\/span> to disable startups.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re an intermediate to advanced user, you can use Microsoft&#8217;s Sysinternals Autoruns (free) to manage startups. You can get Autoruns <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/technet.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sysinternals\/bb963902.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">from here<\/a><\/span>. Another good free startup manager <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/hibit-uninstaller-revisited\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">comes with HiBit Uninstaller<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">When managing your Windows startups, it&#8217;s vital not to disable your antivirus\/antimalware.
