On the left pane under This PC, right-click on your C:\\ drive, click \u201cProperties\u201d. When the \u201cProperties\u201d dialog opens, click the \u201cTools\u201d tab, and then click the \u201cCheck\u201d button.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2018\/checkdrive.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows 10 Tips\" width=\"567\" height=\"342\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Once you click the \u201cCheck\u201d button, you\u2019ll see the following dialog appear. If you need to scan the drive for errors, it will tell you. If you don\u2019t (as below) it will tell you that also. Even if it says, \u201cYou don\u2019t need to scan this drive\u201d, you can still scan the drive if you want to. Just click \u201cScan drive\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2018\/checkdrive1.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows 10 Tips\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">You can scan any hard drive using this tip.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Bonus Tip:\u00a0Scan your hard drive(s) using a Command Prompt<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">1.) Type CMD in the taskbar search.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">2.) In the search results click on &#8220;Run as administrator&#8221;.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">3.) At the prompt, type the following command and press Enter. (Make sure you leave a space before the slash.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>CHKDSK \/SCAN<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Windows will scan your drive&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2021\/chkdsk0.png\" alt=\"Scan your drive for errors - Windows 10 Tip - Cloudeight\" width=\"590\" height=\"329\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And when the scan is done Windows will let you know if further action is required. As you can see, I don&#8217;t need to do anything more.
