Words from Acpressions<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Twenty-one years ago, we introduced Cloudeight Acpressions. It became part of our Cloudeight family. At that time Cloudeight Stationery was the most popular email stationery site on the web and it was growing fast.<\/span><\/p>\n

Back then, Darcy and I spent most of our time creating stationery, screen savers, and other fun things. One of the last things we added to our Cloudeight Stationery family of websites was Acpressions – the name being a play on the word “Expressions”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Acpressions website featured hundreds of sharable thoughts, expressions, and poems that we combined with Java applets and images. Our Acpressions were unique and quickly became a popular part of Cloudeight.<\/span><\/p>\n

But nothing ever stays the same. Our Acpressions were rendered useless when browsers stopped supporting Java applets – and wouldn’t you know we built nearly the entire Acpressions site on Java applets. When browsers stopped supporting Java applets, we sadly decided to close our Acpressions website.<\/span><\/p>\n

The other day I was going through the backup copy we have of Acpressions, and while I could not view the Acpressions I was still able to view some of the poems and thoughts we wrote. And today, instead of our usual essay, we’d like to share some of the verses, thoughts, and poems that we shared with the world all those years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

We hope you enjoy this journey back in time – and the Words of Acpressions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Friends Forever<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I know that no matter what,<\/span>
\nyou’ll always be my friend.<\/span>
\nWhen times get rough,<\/span>
\nand I think they’ll never end,<\/span>
\nYou bring sunshine to the darkest days.<\/span>
\nAnd you’ve shown in so many ways<\/span>
\nWe’re friends forever!<\/span><\/p>\n

Thank you for being my friend!<\/span><\/p>\n

Best Friends<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It’s a wonderful feeling,<\/span>
\nHaving a friend like you.<\/span>

\nSometimes you make me cry.<\/span>
\nBut. whenever I am feeling down,<\/span>

\nThat I can’t wait to share,<\/span>
\nYou’re the one I think of because<\/span>

And so my friend, this poem’s for you,<\/span>
\nNot that words could ever show,<\/span>
\nWhat a very special friend you are:<\/span>

Love<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

You can’t buy or sell it — <\/span>
\nIn fact, you have to give it away to keep it.<\/span>
\nLove is scarce yet can be found anywhere.<\/span>
\nLove is fragile: It dies in the darkness of deceit, lies,<\/span>
\ngreed, and arrogance. Love needs the light of truth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Love is strong: It can conquer sickness, loneliness,<\/span>
\nheartache, separation, and even death.<\/span>
\nLove needs to be cared for and nourished.<\/span>
\nAnd above all, never taken for granted.<\/span>
\nThe light of love can change your heart…<\/span><\/p>\n

And your heart can change the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alone on the Sea<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I am a lonely sailor<\/span>
\nAlone on the sea.<\/span>
\nWithout any you…<\/span>
\nThere isn’t any me.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lighthouse<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It is not easy to weather love’s storms,<\/span>
\nNor is it easy to sail on its sea.<\/span>
\nIt’s hard to tell by the clouds that it forms<\/span>
\nWhat kind of day those clouds will bring me.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sometimes in anger, I set off to sail<\/span>
\nOut on the ocean without a first mate.<\/span>
\nKnowing full well that without you I’ll fail,<\/span>
\nThe Tempest is raging. The Tempest won’t wait.<\/span><\/p>\n

Miles out to sea, my heart starts to yearn.<\/span>
\nAnd I head for home in the dark of the night.<\/span>
\nAnd all the while you knew I’d return.<\/span>
\nYour love never dims, nothing turns out its light.<\/span><\/p>\n

And you, like a lighthouse, stand waiting for me,<\/span>
\nTo return from the Tempest; to return from the sea.<\/span>
\nYour love, never failing, always bright, always true,<\/span>
\nShines like a lighthouse guiding me home to you.<\/span><\/p>\n

One who’s always close; one who’s always there for me.<\/span>
\nOne who takes my side, whether I am right or wrong.<\/span>
\nOne who always calls to share,<\/span>
\nA thought, a book, or song.<\/span><\/p>\n

What words can thank you for always standing by my side?<\/span>
\nYou’ve been there to share my laughter,<\/span>
\nAnd been there when I’ve cried.<\/span>
\nI don’t have words enough to say:<\/span>
\nThank you so much for being my friend.<\/span>
\nAnd sharing your world with me<\/span>

\nI believe we can do anything that we can dream of…<\/span>
\nI believe in children and puppy dogs, it’s true…<\/span>
\nIn soft spring showers and bright spring flowers,<\/span>

Footprints in the Snow<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

What shy and pale darkness drifts down upon this land?<\/span>
\nBetween the seasons changing, a quiet, silent hand.<\/span>
\nThe gift of life pervading the death that does surround<\/span>
\nThe whiteness of the morning and the silence all around.<\/span><\/p>\n

I can see the footprints, the ones I’ve left behind.<\/span>
\nA long and winding trail of steps that destiny designed.<\/span>
\nA trail of tears and laughter, of sun and shadows deep,<\/span>
\nOf promises I’ve broken and ones I’ve yet to keep.<\/span><\/p>\n

I shall not let this sadness nor lost love set my course.<\/span>
\nOr base the steps I’ve yet to take on passion or remorse.<\/span>
\nMy mind still stained with savage pain of things that cannot be —<\/span>
\nOf gentle hours and sweet snow showers and nights upon the sea.<\/span><\/p>\n

And though today I walk away from things familiar too,<\/span>
\nI’ll make new footprints in the snow, where once the flowers grew.<\/span>
\nGuided by a dream unseen; a dream that will not die,<\/span>
\nMy footprints winding through the snow… beneath a twilight sky.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sun<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I said to the sun, “you are no fool”,<\/span>
\nAs she danced in the glimmering, shimmering pool.<\/span>
\n“You play when it’s warm and you hide from the storm,<\/span>
\nAnd run quickly away when it’s cool.”<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s So Easy<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve seen how many times you have done something nice<\/span>
\nFor others in your life? You think they go unnoticed<\/span>
\nBut I notice, and I wanted to say thanks for<\/span>
\nAll that you do!<\/span><\/p>\n

Never think that what you’ve done for others is<\/span>
\nNot appreciated, for it is, by everyone.<\/span>
\nAnd today I just wanted to say THANK YOU…<\/span>
\nFor all you’ve done to make this world a better place.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thank you for all you do…<\/span>
\nBut most of all thanks for being YOU!<\/span><\/p>\n

That Child Inside<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I remember long ago<\/span>
\nSnowmen standing in the snow.<\/span>
\nAnd drifting silent frozen flakes<\/span>
\nFell on the ground below.<\/span><\/p>\n

I remember blazing stars<\/span>
\nAnd looking up and finding Mars.<\/span>
\nAnd seeing wonder in the sky<\/span>
\nAs silent castles drifted by.<\/span><\/p>\n

I remember memories.<\/span>
\nThe soft and gentle summer breeze.<\/span>
\nThe feelings all remain inside<\/span>
\nBut I don’t remember where they hide.<\/span><\/p>\n

I wonder where that child went,<\/span>
\nThe one so happy and content?<\/span>
\nCould it really truly be<\/span>
\nI’ve lost the child inside of me?<\/span><\/p>\n

Today I’ll brush myself aside<\/span>
\nAnd try to find that child inside.<\/span>
\nI’ll make the world a better place<\/span>
\nBy putting on a child’s face.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tomorrow<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Dream of tomorrow<\/span>
\nAnd what you would like it to be.<\/span>
\nDance across mountains.<\/span>
\nDive deep under the sea.<\/span>

\nMake friends with the stars.<\/span>
\nWrite of your journey to<\/span>
\nSaturn and Mars.<\/span>
\nYou are what you dream,<\/span>
\nAnd your dreams can come true.<\/span>
\nTomorrow’s success begins<\/span>
\nWith a dreamer like you!<\/span><\/p>\n

Great dreamers make great doers. Nothing worthwhile was ever created<\/span>

Memories Can Bring a Smile<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

When you’ve lost someone you dearly love<\/span>
\nIt’s hard to find the sun.<\/span>
\nShadows fill the land with gloom and<\/span>
\nThey cover everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n

But memories live on and on<\/span>
\nSafe from death’s cold touch.<\/span>
\nIn memories, we find those still,<\/span>
\nWe love and miss you so much.<\/span><\/p>\n

Memories can bring a smile even on the saddest day.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s a Wonderful World<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Sometimes it’s easy to find fault with the world and to see the bad things in it. But the next time you find yourself complaining and finding fault, take a moment to step outside and look at how many beautiful and wondrous things you can find in just 5 minutes. You’ll be surprised at what you see, and the wonderful world God has given to you and to me.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eternal Love<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Whether we dance on ice or fire<\/span>
\nOr burn the night away<\/span>
\nWith loving thoughts and joyful sighs<\/span>
\nBeneath the starlit winter skies<\/span>
\nNo fire can ever burn us,<\/span>
\nNor cold destroy the flame<\/span>
\nWhich lights the darkest coldest night<\/span>
\nAnd burns the heavens with its light<\/span>
\nOur love, eternal, as the wind<\/span>
\nAs enduring as the sky,<\/span>
\nSails on and on and on its wings<\/span>
\nWe take slight notice of the dark<\/span>
\nAnd other worldly things…<\/span>
\nI love you forever and ever.<\/span><\/p>\n

One more thing…<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

And though it’s not Halloween, we had many holiday Acpressions for Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day.\u00a0 We thought we’d include a Halloween Acpression, just for fun…<\/span><\/p>\n

Happy Halloween<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The witches are flying high<\/span>
\nBeneath the starry October sky.<\/span>
\nSkeletons shuffle along the sidewalk<\/span>
\nMonsters abound! Some with only one eye!<\/span><\/p>\n

A werewolf is dancing all covered with fur,<\/span>
\nAnd I cannot tell if it’s a him or a her!<\/span>
\nSuddenly someone knocks on my door.<\/span>
\nIt’s some kind of creature I’ve never seen before!<\/span>
\nI open the door with a great deal of fright<\/span>
\nAnd look out into the Halloween night.<\/span>
\nA tiny voice inside the creature<\/span>
\n(A rather strange and ironic little feature)<\/span>
\nSays: “I’ll give you a trick if you don’t give me a treat!” As it stood at my doorstep<\/span>
\nObviously looking for something to eat!<\/span>
\nI gathered my strength and went looking for candy,<\/span>
\nAnd wouldn’t you know I found something dandy!<\/span>
\nI put the treats into the little goblin’s hand<\/span>
\nAnd watched it shuffle off into Halloween land.<\/span>
\nAbout an hour or so later as I was watching TV<\/span>
\nMy daughter said: “Thanks for the candy, Daddy! That creature was me!”<\/span><\/p>\n

Be kind to the creatures who visit your door this Halloween!<\/span><\/p>\n
