If the update causes you major problems, the information in this article will help you make it like it never even happened.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">We want to remind you again of an IMPORTANT feature of Windows 10 that allows you to go back to your previous version of Windows 10 without affecting your programs or files.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> This feature is only available after a version update (such as the \u201cMay 2021 Update\u201d aka Windows 10 Version 21H1); regular (cumulative updates) can be uninstalled.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>But remember, you only have 10 days to go back to the previous version of Windows 10<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">By default, you have 10 days after you update to a new version of Windows 10 to go back to the previous version of Windows. Using the option to go back to the previous version of Windows 10 preserves your files, installed programs, settings and reverts your Windows 10 version to the previous version of Windows 10.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>IMPORTANT!\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Do not use System Restore, System Reset, or Fresh start to fix problems with a version update.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>How to go back to the previous version of Windows 10<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If a Windows 10 version update, such as Windows 10 May 2021 Update (Version 21H1), causes you significant problems, the first thing you should do is this:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">1. Right-click on the Start button and click \u201cSettings\u201d\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">2. In Settings click \u201cUpdate &amp; Security\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">3. In \u201cUpdate &amp; Security\u201d click \u201cRecovery\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">4. In Recovery, you may have three options \u201cReset this PC\u201d, \u201cGo back to the previous version of Windows 10\u201d and \u201cAdvanced startup\u201d. If it has been well past 10 days since the Windows 10 version update was installed, you will not see \u201cGo back to the previous version\u2026\u201d at all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2021\/goback2021.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve\" \/><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you don\u2019t see \u201cGo back to the previous version of Windows 10\u201d or the \u201cGet Started\u201d button is grayed out:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">a.) The update was not a Windows 10 version update<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">b.) Too much time has passed since the major update was installed. By default, you have 10 days to go back to the previous version after a version update.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">c:) If you see the option but the \u201cGet started\u201d button is grayed out, then you waited too long and you no longer have the option to go back to the previous version of Windows 10.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you have problems with updates other than Windows 10 version updates, you can uninstall the update(s) this way:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">1.\u00a0 Right-click the Start button and click Settings.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">2. In Settings, click on Update &amp; security.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">3. In Update &amp; security, click on Windows Update.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">4. In Windows Update, click on Advanced Options.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">5. In Advanced Options, click on View your update history.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">6. In Update history click on Uninstall updates and a list of updates will appear.
