But some of us, like me for instance, prefer to see a more traditional view that shows my hard drives and other drives in addition to the Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Music, etc. folders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">We\u2019re going to show you how to change File Explorer, so it opens with This PC (formerly known as Computer or My Computer).\u00a0 It\u2019s quite simple. It\u2019s so simple in fact, you\u2019ll be able to do it faster than it takes you to read this tip.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Let&#8217;s change the default view of File Explorer from &#8220;Quick Access&#8221; to &#8220;This PC&#8221;.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style745\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><span class=\"auto-style747\"><span class=\"auto-style736\"><span class=\"auto-style9\">Step #1:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Open File Explorer. You can do this a bunch of ways \u2013 here are three:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">a. Right-click the Start button and click &#8220;File Explorer&#8221;.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">b. Click the folder icon on your taskbar<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">c. Press the Windows Key + E<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you have not changed your settings, File Explorer will open to \u201cQuick access\u201d (highlighted in yellow below). The default view is Windows system folders and Recent files. No drives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style745\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2021\/quickaccess1.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Step #2:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Let\u2019s change File Explorer so it opens to &#8220;This PC&#8221; (My Computer\/Computer).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">a.\u00a0 Click View (at the top of File Explorer \u2013 see red box)<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">b. Click Options (see red arrow)<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">c.\u00a0 Select Change folder and search options \u2013 highlighted in yellow below:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/file-explorer-options1.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows 10 tips\" \/><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Step #3:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In Folder Options, next to \u201cOpen File Explorer to:\u201d use the down arrow to select &#8220;This PC&#8221;. Then click Apply\/OK.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2019\/file-explorer-options2.png\" alt=\"Windows 10 Tips by Cloudeight\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Close File Explorer and reopen it.\u00a0 And now you&#8217;ll see your system folders and your drives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"auto-style745\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2021\/thispc.png\" alt=\"Windows 10 Tips by Cloudeight\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And that&#8217;s all there is to making File Explorer open to &#8220;This PC&#8221; instead of &#8220;Quick Access&#8221; in Windows 10.
