How to Create a System Restore Point Shortcut<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This tip works in Windows 10 and Windows 11. The screenshots in this article are from Windows 11 but it works exactly the same in Windows 10. We’re hoping to show that Windows 10 and Windows 11 are kissing cousins. If you can use Windows 10, you won’t have much trouble learning Windows 11.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Creating Windows System Restore Points is a multi-step task. But did you know you can create a System Restore Point with a single click? It’s easy to do, and it works with Windows 10 and Windows 11.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here’s how to do it.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Right-click on your desktop<\/span>
\n2. Choose “New” > “Shortcut”<\/span>
\n3. In the box under “What would you like to create a shortcut for” copy & paste this line:<\/span><\/p>\n

powershell.exe -NoExit -Command \"& {Checkpoint-Computer -description \"MyRestorePoint\" -restorepointtype \"Modify_Settings\"}<\/code><\/p>\n

4. Now give it a name, for instance, “Create Restore Point” would be nice.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Shortcut<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Right-click on your desktop shortcut and choose “Properties”. Click “Advanced”.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the window that opens, tick the box that says, “Run as administrator”. Then click OK. Click Apply\/Ok (Windows 10) or “OK” (Windows 11).<\/span><\/p>\n

Now when you click your new shortcut, you’ll see this:<\/span><\/p>\n

Now you can create a System Restore point with just a single click!<\/span><\/p>\n
