How to turn on Autocorrect and Text Prediction (Windows 10 and Windows 11)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Autocorrect and text prediction have been a feature of Android and Apple tablets and phones for quite some time. These two features can save time by predicting what you’re going to type based on your personal history and automatically correcting spelling errors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Did you know that Windows 10 and Windows 11 offer both autocorrect and text prediction too? Microsoft calls text prediction \u201cText suggestions\u201d, but it works the same way as text prediction does on Android and Apple devices.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to turn on Text suggestions in Windows 10<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1.) Press Windows key + i to open Settings<\/span><\/p>\n

2.) In Settings click on Devices.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.) On the menu on the left click \u201cTyping\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.) In \u201cTyping\u201d under \u201cHardware keyboard\u201d turn the switch under \u201cShow suggestions as I type\u201d to \u201cOn\u201d. (Note \u2013 While you\u2019re here you can turn on \u201c\u2018Autocorrect misspelled words\u201d too if you choose.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Windows 10 \u201cText suggestions\u201d works on any Windows 10 App \u2013 Edge, Notepad, WordPad, etc. It may not work in some third-party apps.<\/span><\/p>\n

Much like its older brothers (sisters?) on Android and Apple devices, as soon as you start typing you will see suggestions pop up. You can choose one of the suggestions by selecting it with the arrow keys \u2013 Up\/Down\/Right\/Left.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to turn on Text suggestions in Windows 11<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1.) Press Windows key + i to open Settings.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.) In Settings navigate to Time & language.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.) In Time and language, choose Typing.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.) Flip the switch next to \u201cShow text suggestions when typing on the physical keyboard\u201d to \u201cOn\u201d Also, while you\u2019re here, you can also turn on \u201cAutocorrect misspelled words\u201d from here if you wish as well as \u201cHighlight misspelled words\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n
