Windows 7 comes with a lot of themes – but some of them are pretty awful. Really they are. Have you ever seen the “Scenes” theme? It looks like Salvador Dali had been blindfolded and then had his toes nibbled by cadre of Moldavian roof rats and forced to paint something. Atrocious. At least to me. Beauty is in they eye of the beholder though — right?<\/p>\n
Anyway, to make a somewhat shorter tip shorter, we’ll move right along. Did you know that Microsoft offers a lot of really nice free themes for Windows 7 – including my current favorite “Lighthouses”. Unlike those themes from days of yore when you had to fiddle around with the darn things to get them to work right, Windows 7, makes using themes is as easy as downloading and installing them – then choosing your theme from the installed themes in “Personalization”. But wait! You don’t even have to bother finding the theme you downloaded and installed, because in Windows 7 as soon as you install the theme, the Personalization menu opens thus displaying the theme you just installed, as well as all the other themes that come pre-installed with Windows 7 (yes, even including the terrible “Scenes” theme).<\/p>\n
Now, you choose whatever theme you like, but Lighthouses is really great. I think you’ll like it – if you like lighthouses and nobody doesn’t like lighthouses, right?
