Microsoft started opening up to Chrome and Safari desktop browsers in July under its testing for full third-party browser support.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Microsoft is opening it up to all mobile browsers after offering Bing Chat in separate Android and iOS mobile apps, the Vefge reports.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">There have also been over 1 million chats on Bing Chat and over 750 million images generated using the service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Windows Copilot<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Windows Copilot, powered by Bing Chat, will be soon available under Windows 11. While these can be highly effective treatments, cancer often evolves to resist them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">In theory, a protein named PCNA (\u201cproliferating cell nuclear antigen\u201d) would be an ideal target for a cancer therapy \u2014 all growing solid tumors rely on a mutated form of PCNA to repair and replicate their cells.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Unfortunately, PCNA was long thought to be \u201cundruggable,\u201d meaning there was no way to effectively target the protein with a treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">A new targeted therapy: Researchers at City of Hope appear to have overcome the challenge of targeting the mutated form of PCNA with a new drug, called AOH1996.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">\u201cCity of Hope was able to develop an investigational medicine for a challenging protein target.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">In a new study, they detail how the drug killed more than 70 types of cancer in lab tests and 3 types (neuroblastoma, breast cancer, and small-cell lung cancer) in tests on mice. It didn\u2019t show any signs of toxicity toward healthy cells when administered to mice and dogs, either \u2014 even when they were given 6 times the effective dose.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">\u201cNo one has ever targeted PCNA as a therapeutic because it was viewed as \u2018undruggable,\u2019 but clearly City of Hope was able to develop an investigational medicine for a challenging protein target,\u201d said lead author Long Gu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">How it works: When cells divide, the mechanisms for duplicating the cell\u2019s DNA and those for expressing its genes sometimes collide with one another&#8230;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.freethink.com\/health\/targeted-therapy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Read more at Freethink.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2023\/08\/03\/microsoft-shutting-down-cortana-siri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">Microsoft is shutting down Cortana, and Apple should do the same with Siri<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Cortana is Microsoft\u2019s virtual assistant, which was introduced in 2014 back when Windows Phone was still a thing. Similar to Siri, Cortana lets users perform a number of tasks using voice commands. But it seems Microsoft is giving up on its old virtual assistant, as the latest Windows 11 update kills the Cortana app. The reason? The company will now bet on AI instead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Microsoft\u2019s Cortana is saying goodbye<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">As reported by Windows Latest, the Cortana app has received an update via the Microsoft Store after two years without getting a single new feature. But instead of new features, the update pretty much kills Cortana and now shows a message saying that \u201cCortana in Windows as a standalone app is deprecated.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">A support article from Microsoft details that Cortana will continue to be available within apps like Outlook and Microsoft Teams. However, even that shouldn\u2019t last long. We\u2019re told that \u201cadditional functionality [is] coming down the road in future previews.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Also, it should be noted that Copilot will be a \u201ccontrolled feature rollout\u201d meaning only a small amount of testers will get it initially. It\u2019ll arrive for more folks in the \u201ccoming weeks\u201d, so this is a rollout that could take some time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">(It\u2019s also worth noting that not every Insider will get this build either \u2013 new testers, and a subset of existing testers, won\u2019t get 22631 as it might cause their device to be put \u201cinto a bad state\u201d, which sounds ominous).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">If you\u2019re not seeing Copilot and you\u2019re in the Beta channel, then, this isn\u2019t unexpected \u2013 but you should make sure you\u2019re running Microsoft Edge version 115.0.1901.150 or better. (As the AI is powered via Edge, you definitely won\u2019t get it on an older version of the browser).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">For those who do receive Copilot, here comes that sting we mentioned at the outset. Microsoft tells us: \u201cYou may see inline recommendations we think are relevant through ads in Bing.
