They reported the update installation would reach 30% and not proceed any further. In other words,\u00a0 the update got stuck at 30%. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Our advice is to be patient as those kinds of issues will usually resolve over time &#8211; usually because Microsoft gets a lot of feedback and fixes the faulty updates eventually.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Now it&#8217;s official. Microsoft admits there&#8217;s a\u00a0 problem with the update and they&#8217;re working on a fix for it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The following article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techradar.com\/computing\/microsoft-admits-that-latest-windows-10-update-has-a-peculiar-error-and-its-working-to-fix-it-asap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">from TechRadar<\/span><\/a> explains the problem with this recent Windows update.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Microsoft admits that the latest Windows 10 update has a peculiar error &#8211; and it\u2019s working to fix it ASAP<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Playing the waiting game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">A small security update for Windows 10 that tagged along with January\u2019s main system update has been causing trouble for some users, prompting \u2018installation failure\u2019 errors on some PCs. Fortunately for those affected, Microsoft has now officially acknowledged the problem, and is working to fix it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Last week we reported on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techradar.com\/pro\/security\/windows-10-security-update-requires-some-major-changes-experts-only-need-apply\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft\u2019s latest Windows 10 security patch<\/a>, which caused more than a few headaches for IT admins, but was aimed at Windows 10 PC\u2019s to fix a flaw that could potentially allow attackers to bypass encryption.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tweaktown.com\/news\/95585\/microsoft-admits-latest-windows-10-update-has-strange-error-says-its-working-on-fix\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TweakTown<\/a>, the error caused by that patch (labeled KB5034441) is due to unhelpful stop code present in the update, apparently caused by the recovery partition (WinRE) in Windows 10 not being sufficiently big enough. TweakTown quotes Microsoft admitting to the error and confirming that &#8220;It might be necessary to increase the size of the WinRE partition in order to avoid this issue and complete the installation. Note that 250 megabytes of free space is required in the recovery partition.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">We&#8217;re going to have to be patient<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">As we noted in our original article covering the KB5034441 update, if you\u2019re really certain you want to get the patch installed, it can be done with a few changes to the system configuration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">This process requires quite a bit of time and care, however, and while we go through how you could possibly try and rectify it, we don\u2019t really suggest that casual Windows users do so &#8211; at least, not until more information is available. Given how important the security patch is, we\u2019re almost certainly going to see a new patch release very soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">If you are yet to download the latest security update to your Windows 10 device, we would recommend holding off for a little while longer if you wish to avoid this kind of inconvenience. You\u2019re better off waiting for Microsoft to rectify the problem itself, which will hopefully be a quick-fix solution.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">So, if you&#8217;re one of the many people having a problem with this Microsoft security update, take our advice and be patient.
