The update is aside from 21 vulnerabilities that the company addressed in its Chromium-based Edge browser following the release of the March 2024 Patch Tuesday fixes&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">While Microsoft&#8217;s own advisory provides no information about CVE-2024-26234, cybersecurity firm Sophos said it discovered in December 2023 a malicious executable (&#8220;Catalog.exe&#8221; or &#8220;Catalog Authentication Client Service&#8221;) that&#8217;s signed by a valid Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher (WHCP) certificate&#8230;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehackernews.com\/2024\/04\/microsoft-fixes-149-flaws-in-huge-april.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Read more at The Hacker News.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.techradar.com\/computing\/windows\/microsoft-is-testing-small-but-impactful-changes-to-draw-your-attention-to-copilot-ai-on-the-windows-11-desktop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Microsoft is testing small but impactful changes to draw your attention to Copilot AI on the Windows 11 desktop<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 24pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Copilot is getting animated<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Microsoft has made a relatively minor but pretty useful tweak for Copilot in testing, as part of the ongoing effort to bring the AI assistant into play more often with Windows 11.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">This is part of the new Windows 11 preview build 22635 deployed in the Beta channel, and the change to Copilot is rolling out gradually, so not all testers in that channel will have it just yet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The idea is a \u2018new experience\u2019 for Copilot that aims to boost your productivity in Windows 11. How exactly? A month earlier, Windows 10 had fallen to 66.47%, its lowest since December 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">But Statcounter&#8217;s updated report won&#8217;t make for welcome reading for Microsoft. Windows 11 saw its global share drop 1.46% in March to 26.72%. At the same time, Windows 10&#8217;s share grew almost 2% to 69.07%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">In February, Microsoft started nagging Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11 using several full-screen popups. The upgrade button gave users the choice of getting Windows 11 or scheduling an install later. The option for staying on Windows 10 was easily missable at the bottom of the screen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">We were also reminded in March that Windows 10 Enterprise and Education editions would soon enter their end of life status, with organizations pushed to upgrade to the latest Windows 10 release or Windows 11.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">It appears that Microsoft&#8217;s efforts are yet to pay off. In addition to Statcounter&#8217;s results, Windows 11 has been falling in popularity among Steam survey participants. A former employee who spoke to 404 Media said they were sent an email notifying them to work from home on Wednesday and were then called individually to be told the news about their jobs. Some, per 404 Media\u2019s sources and numerous Reddit posts, were longtime Geek Squad agents who had been with the company for more than 10 or even 20 years. Best Buy has not yet responded to Engadget\u2019s request for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">There has been an outpouring of support for the laid off workers on the unofficial Geek Squad subreddit, where many have lamented the loss of jobs they\u2019d dedicated much of their lives to and noted that things in the lead up had been heading in a concerning direction.
