Recall automatically takes screenshots of your screen every few seconds ostensively to make things easier to find later on. It seems most people don&#8217;t want Windows taking screenshots of everything they do on their computers every few seconds so now Microsoft is making Recall optional and turned off by default. If you want t read more about the &#8220;Recall&#8221; uproar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.windowscentral.com\/software-apps\/windows-11\/microsoft-has-lost-trust-with-its-users-windows-recall-is-the-last-straw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">see this article<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Windows 10 and Windows 11 Tracks Everything You Do<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Did you know that whether <\/span><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">you&#8217;re using Windows 10 or Windows 11, Windows already tracks everything you do &#8211; but not with screenshots?\u00a0 It&#8217;s called Timeline and Activity history in Windows 10 and Activity History in Windows 11. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you don&#8217;t want Windows tracking everything you do on your computer here&#8217;s how to turn off Activity history and clear history already recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Windows 10<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Open Settings (Windows key + i ) and click on Privacy<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In the left-hand pane, click on Activity history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Under the &#8220;Manage your activity history&#8221; section, you&#8217;ll see two options:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Store my activity history on this device: Toggle the switch to Off if you don&#8217;t want Windows to store your activity history on your device.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Send my activity history to Microsoft: Toggle the switch to Off to prevent Windows from sending your activity history to Microsoft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Disabling both options will completely turn off activity history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2024\/acthistory10.png\" alt=\"Turn off Activity History in Windows 10 - Cloudeight InfoAve\" width=\"600\" height=\"447\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">To clean up what Windows has already recorded, scroll down a bit further, and under &#8220;Clear activity history&#8221; click the &#8220;Clear&#8221; button.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2024\/acthistory10a.png\" alt=\"Clear Activity history Windows 10 - Cloudeight InfoAve\" width=\"437\" height=\"252\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Windows 11<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Open Settings (Windows key + i)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In Settings click on &#8220;Privacy &amp; security&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Under &#8220;Privacy &amp; security&#8221; scroll down find &#8220;Activity history&#8221; and click on it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In the &#8220;Activity history&#8221; dialog, toggle the switch next to &#8220;Store my activity history on this device&#8221; to the Off position.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And next to &#8220;Clear activity history for this account&#8221;, click on &#8220;Clear history&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2024\/acthistory11.png\" alt=\"Windows 11 Activity History - Cloudeight InfoAve\" width=\"600\" height=\"616\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; How to Stop Windows from Tracking Everything You Do There&#8217;s been an uproar recently over Microsoft&#8217;s new Copilot PCs and a feature called &#8220;Recall&#8221; which is turned on by default.
