{"id":28697,"date":"2024-07-07T09:32:48","date_gmt":"2024-07-07T13:32:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/?p=28697"},"modified":"2024-07-07T09:33:44","modified_gmt":"2024-07-07T13:33:44","slug":"automatic-maintenance-in-windows-10-and-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/automatic-maintenance-in-windows-10-and-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Automatic Maintenance in Windows 10 and 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Automatic Maintenance in Windows 10 and 11<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Windows 10 and 11 have an Automatic Maintenance feature that runs in the background when your computer is idle. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Windows Automatic Maintenance helps maintain the health and performance of your Windows PC. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">It automates things like:<\/span> <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Disk optimization<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Disk defragmentation<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Updating Windows apps, <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And performing other necessary security &amp; maintenance routines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Automatic maintenance is set up on all Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers and is scheduled to run at 2:00 AM every day. You can change the scheduled time to any time you choose.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If your computer is turned off, Automatic Maintenance won\u2019t run until your computer is on and running but idle. If your computer is asleep, Automatic maintenance won\u2019t run until your computer is awake and idle. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you normally allow your computer to sleep, you can change these settings so that Automatic Maintenance will wake your computer to run Automatic Maintenance. And we think that is a good idea.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">From the Automatic maintenance dialog, you can also generate a reliability report and\/or change the time Windows Automatic maintenance runs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">How to access the Automatic maintenance settings\u2026<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">1. In the taskbar search, type \u201cControl\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">2. Click on Control Panel when it appears at the top.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">3. In Control Panel switch to Large Icon view and click on Security &amp; Maintenance.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">4. Click on Maintenance (see screenshot below).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infove\/images\/2023\/maintain0.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows Tips &amp; Tricks\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">5. In the Maintenance dialog, you can generate a reliability report by clicking \u201cView reliability history\u201d. If you want to change the time automatic maintenance runs, click \u201cChange maintenance settings\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infove\/images\/2023\/maintain.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight Windows Tips &amp; Tricks\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">6. In Maintenance settings you can change the time Automatic maintenance runs.
