How to Create Many Email Addresses From One Email Address<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Most of us know we can use periods to create multiple Gmail addressing scenarios. For instance, I.AM.NOT.EB@gmail.com is the same as iamnoteb@gmail.com.<\/span><\/p>\n

And my.grammar.is.not.as.bad.as.you.think@gmail.com is the same as <\/span>mygrammar.isnot.as.bad.as.you.think@gmail.com <\/span>and the same as <\/span>mygrammarisnotasbadasyouthink@gmail.com<\/span><\/p>\n

Or, if you dare, I.dodge.darcys.email@gmail.com is the same as <\/span>idodgedarcysemail@gmail.com.<\/span><\/p>\n

One important rule though \u2013 you can\u2019t use a period directly before the @ sign in the email address. That is a no-no. period!<\/span><\/p>\n

And this is for Gmail users. Period.<\/span><\/h2>\n

However, do not try the above with Outlook.com accounts or you\u2019ll be sorry because you won\u2019t get mail addressed to you that way and you\u2019ll be wasting time thinking of clever email addresses. If you want to be clever with periods (or dots) then you need Gmail. And if you hurry, you might still find that eb.rides.a.broom@gmail.com is still available!<\/span><\/p>\n

This is for Gmail & Outlook\/Hotmail users<\/span><\/h2>\n

Using a plus sign, you can plus your way to additional email accounts with Gmail and Outlook\/Hotmail.com. So if you are writing the CIA (I don\u2019t advise it) you can use YourUserName+CIA@gmail.com. For example AbrahamTuwitze+CIA@gmail.com or AbrahamTuwitze+CIA@outlook.com. See? This gives you zillions of new email addresses from only one. And any replies will come to your inbox. Just one inbox for lots of email addresses.

Think of the possibilities!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Got it? Use your imagination, just remember the first thing in your email address (before the + ) must be your real address.<\/span><\/p>\n

See? So Abraham can put anything after AbrahamTuwitze+ so long as the words are connected with dashes \u2014 or underscores ____ or periods.\u00a0 For example, AbrahamTuwitze+I-Love-the-CIA@outlook.com is the same as AbrahamTuwitze@outlook.com.\u00a0 Whatever you put after the + is up to you, but anyone can figure out your real email address because it\u2019s what comes before the + (plus sign) that counts. \u00a0See?<\/span><\/p>\n

And so that should give you all kinds of ideas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another good reason to use PLUS + addressing<\/span><\/h2>\n

Another good reason to use + (Plus) after your email user name, is to see where your spam is coming from.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s say you want to sign up for Fred\u2019s Great Onion Recipes email newsletter and your name is Lucy Jupiter. You can use the PLUS sign + to sign up to Fred\u2019s mail list with your lucy-jupiter@gmail.com or outlook.com address using plus addressing this way:<\/span><\/p>\n

lucy-jupiter+Freds-Mail-List@gmail.com<\/span><\/p>\n

or<\/span><\/p>\n

lucy-jupiter+Freds-Mail-List@outlookcom.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now assuming you don\u2019t use that PLUS address for anything else, if you start getting an avalanche of spam coming to your lucy-jupiter+Freds-Mail-List@gmail.com or outlook.com address, you can be pretty sure that old Fred is abusing your email address.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And yet another good reason… Getting free stuff!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Let’s say Mark’s Big Burgers Inc. has an app. And you get a free MarksBurger when you sign up for the app. So go for it. If Mark’s Big Burger’s app is like many other apps…<\/span><\/p>\n

Lucy-Jupiter@gmail.com is not the same as Lucy-Jupiter+Hamburger@gmail.com and certainly not the same as Lucy-Jupiter+Hates.Onions@gmail.com, or Lucy-Jupiter+I.love.free.stuff@gmail.com. And the same goes for Lucy’s Outlook or Hotmail.com accounts. You might get lots of free burgers. We’re not sure if it’s legal or not but we’re sure not lawyers. If you want to know legal stuff, pay $1000 and ask a lawyer. While you’re at your lawyer’s office drinking old coffee and hungry, I’ll go for the free burgers & fries… or at least give it a try!

A few more things<\/span><\/h2>\n

No matter what email address you create using the plus method, they all come to the same inbox. So you can have 20 email addresses but only one inbox. How nifty!<\/span><\/p>\n
