Save Time with Ctrl Key Shortcuts<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

These shortcuts work on Windows 10 and\u00a0 11.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Shortcuts only save you time if you use them. Here are some of the Ctrl-key shortcuts we use almost every day. Remember: The more you use these shortcuts, the more you’ll remember them.

OK. Ready? Let\u2019s save some time and use the Ctrl key to help you save time and take control of your computer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s say you\u2019re reading a page on the Web and you\u2019re looking for a particular word on that page. What would you do?<\/span><\/p>\n

a.) Scan the page manually for the word.<\/span><\/p>\n

b.) Use the browser\u2019s search feature in the browser toolbar.<\/span><\/p>\n

c.) Press Ctrl+F to open the page search dialog.<\/span><\/p>\n

d.) None of the above.<\/span><\/p>\n

The answer is C.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re looking for a word on a page in your web browser, word processor, text editor, PDF viewer, and many others, just press Ctrl+F to open the \u201cFind\u201d dialog. Just remember, F stands for Find. Sure, you can use the program\u2019s search feature too, but why? CTRL + F is faster.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re on a page you want to print, do you search for \u201cprint\u201d on the toolbar, look for printer icons, or just press Ctrl+P? Right! You press Ctrl+P to print the page. It\u2019s the fastest way to print.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s say you\u2019re using your browser and you want to open a new window. Do you just click the browser\u2019s shortcut to open a new browser window? Nah, just press Ctrl+N. Same thing if you\u2019re using an email program and you want to open a new window to compose an email.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re working on a document and you want to save it, you can press CTRL+S instead of clicking \u2018File\u2019 and \u2018Save\u2019. If you want \u201cFile\u201d \u201cSave as\u201d \u2013 Ctrl+S\/ works in many applications.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to view your browser\u2019s history, use Ctrl+H.\u00a0 If you want to view a list of downloads while your browser is open, press Ctrl+J.<\/span><\/p>\n

Remember this:\u00a0 Ctrl key shortcuts are not case sensitive \u2013 for this post, we are using capital letters, but lowercase letters work just as well.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Ctrl+F = Find something on a page \u2013 in a browser, text editor, PDF editor, eBook, etc. To remember this easily, think F = FIND.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ctrl+P = Print the document you have open. Whether it\u2019s a web page, a Word doc, a PDF file, a text file, etc, think P = PRINT.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ctrl+N = Opens a new window in the program that\u2019s running. Think N = NEW.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ctrl+S = Saves the document you\u2019re working on. Think S = SAVE.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ctrl+H = Shows your browser\u2019s history. Think H = History<\/span><\/p>\n

Ctrl+J = Shows a list of downloads in your browser. Think J=? I give up! J=Downloads! Junk?<\/span><\/p>\n

And let me not fail to mention:<\/span><\/p>\n

Ctrl+A = Select All<\/span><\/p>\n

Ctrl+X = Cuts the selected item or text<\/span><\/p>\n

Ctrl+C = Copies the selected text or item<\/span><\/p>\n

Ctrl+V = Paste<\/span><\/p>\n

Ctrl+Y = Reverses your last \u201cUndo\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
