You must be running the latest version of Windows 10 (22H2).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">You\u2019ll find a link to sign up for Extended Security Updates in Settings &gt; Windows Update, as shown below:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2025\/esu25.png\" alt=\"Cloudeight InfoAve Windows EOS\" width=\"600\" height=\"279\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Clicking enroll now, leads to an \u201cEnrollment wizard\u201d which will give you several options.\u00a0If you\u2019re signed in with a Microsoft account and have previously used the Windows Backup program to save your settings to Microsoft\u2019s cloud (OneDrive), you\u2019ll see this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cIf you\u2019re signed in with a Microsoft account and you\u2019ve already used the Windows Backup program, you\u2019ll be able to enroll for free, immediately.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><em>Note: What is \u201cWindows Backup\u201d? Windows Backup ESU refers to using the Windows Backup app to enroll in Microsoft\u2019s Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for free. This program provides critical security updates for Windows 10 for one year after its official end of support on October 14, 2025, helping to protect your PC from new threats during that time. By using Windows Backup, you sync your settings to your Microsoft account, which allows you to receive these updates without paying the usual $30 one-time fee or using Microsoft Rewards points.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you\u2019re signed in with a local account or if you haven\u2019t previously run Windows Backup, you still have more to do. You\u2019ll see the following appear in the enrollment wizard instead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/images\/2025\/esu251.png\" alt=\"Microsoft ESU Enrollment - Cloudeight\" width=\"604\" height=\"753\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">You\u2019ll see options to \u201cBack up your PC Settings\u201d, Redeem \u201cMicrosoft points\u201d that you have received from searching with Bing or buying Microsoft products from the Microsoft store.\u201d You\u2019ll need 1000 points. Or pay $30 (U.S.D.) for critical security updates for one year, \u201cOne-time purchase\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And if you have more than one Windows 10 computer that you sign into with the same Microsoft account, Extended Security Updates covers multiple PCs\u2026as long as you sign into all of them with the same Microsoft account. Extended Security Updates will be delivered to your computer (s) for one year, beginning on October 14, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Microsoft could have made this simpler, but what can we say?
