Time is hiding behind a clock in a bell tower and in the watch on your wrist. Yet time needs not our toys of measurement. Time exists whether you know it or not. If the bottomless pit of eternity swallows the masterpiece and the scrap of paper with equal indifference, the distinction between greatness and failure vanishes.

When we look at a clock, we see nothing but hours; we do not see the day when we can’t see the clock, when it becomes as meaningless as the cosmic dust floating in some undiscovered galaxy spinning for what seems an eternity. But not even the most powerful galaxy can escape the wrath of time.

Yet, perhaps there is a quiet, radical mercy in this indifference.

If time is the ruthless killer, he cannot be bribed, flattered, or deceived.
