We’ve featured this program in an older edition of InfoAve Premium – but for a completely different reason. Have now had the opportunity to work with over 300 of you and helping you with your computers – we’ve had many occasions when we’ve needed to see what processes are using which files. It helps us to determine what kinds of problems a certain service or process is causing – and allows us to quickly terminate all processes and dlls associated with a certain program, process or service.<\/p>\n
While the above may seem a little arcane if you not repariing computers — you can learn a lot about how Windows works by using this program and you can also deal with such error messages as:<\/p>\n
Cannot delete file: Access is denied
\nThere has been a sharing violation.
\nThe source or destination file may be in use.
\nThe file is in use by another program or user.
\nMake sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.<\/p>\n
Now we know you’ve seen one or more of those messages before.<\/p>\n
The programs is called Unlocker and it does a whole lot more than allow you to unlock a file that is locked by another process. It helps you learn how Windows works and how a whole lot more is going on under the hood than you ever imagined. And you can always use it to fix those annoying errors listed above too.<\/p>\n
Unlocker gives many options via a simple right-click on a file. Right-clicking opens a window giving you the windows process(es) using the file.<\/p>\n
Unlocker is one of those priceless freeware programs that deserves a spot on everyone’s computers. Yes – that includes yours EB<\/p>\n
