This probably will be the last preview before Microsoft releases Windows 8 to manufacturing and then to the public. By October, Windows 8 will be the &#8220;new&#8221; Windows &#8212; and Windows 7 will be the old Windows.<\/p>\n<p>Windows 8 is going to be a shocker for those of you who are hanging on to Windows XP. It&#8217;s a leap for those of us who are using Windows 7 now. The task bar isn&#8217;t. The charms bar is. The desktop isn&#8217;t (by default) the Metro UI is. One of the easiest ways to get around in Windows 8 is using keyboard shortcuts. With older versions of Windows keyboard shortcuts were nice but you could get around easily in other ways. Windows 8 just doesn&#8217;t look like Windows although most of your favorite Windows programs will run fine on Windows 8.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re publishing a list of Windows 8 Release Preview Keyboard shortcuts because we know from experience that while many other things in Windows 8 may change between now and the official release in October 2012 &#8212; we&#8217;re pretty sure these Windows Key shortcuts won&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the following assumes the Windows Key is pressed first OK?<\/p>\n<p>Windows Key +<\/p>\n<p>C\u00a0 Opens the Charms bar<br \/>\nD\u00a0 Opens the classic Desktop<br \/>\nE\u00a0 Opens Windows Explorer<br \/>\nF\u00a0 Go to files in Search charm<br \/>\nG\u00a0 Cycle through desktop gadgets<br \/>\nH\u00a0 Share charm<br \/>\nI\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Settings charm<br \/>\nJ\u00a0 Switch focus between snapped and larger apps<br \/>\nK Devices charm<br \/>\nL\u00a0 Switch Users &#8211; Lock the desktop<br \/>\nM\u00a0 Minimize all windows on the desktop<br \/>\nO\u00a0 Switch screen orientation<br \/>\nP\u00a0 Projector Options<br \/>\nR\u00a0 Opens the Run dialog<br \/>\nT\u00a0 Cycle through open apps<br \/>\nU\u00a0 Opens Ease of Access Center<br \/>\nV\u00a0 Cycle\u00a0 through notifications (+Shift to go backwards)<br \/>\nW\u00a0 Go to settings in charms bar<br \/>\nX\u00a0 Quick Link Power User Commands (opens Mobility Center if present)<br \/>\nZ\u00a0\u00a0 Opens App Bar<\/p>\n<p>There you go.
