Last winter we told you that a start button and the option to boot straight to the desktop was coming to Windows 8, while the so-called Microsoft experts were saying “No way!” Now even those diehard Microsoft fans agree Windows 8.1 will include a start button. However most still say it will not users a choice to boot straight to the desktop. Well, are the Microsoft experts right, or are we right? We’ll know by this summer.

Windows 8 has been a huge flop. Microsoft claims it has sole 100 million licenses for Windows 8, but some Wall Street analysts are putting that number closer to 57 million. One thing for sure, Windows 8, if Windows 8.1 doesn’t address all the consumer complaints, will end up in the same place Windows ME (the worst Windows ever!) and Windows Vista did.

When will Microsoft’s arrogance end? Maybe when they are no longer floating on a huge pile of cash. Unfortunately. that won’t be anytime soon; Microsoft has a huge stockpile of cash.
