New Windows 7 Computers Are Still Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We don&#8217;t think Windows 8 is a bad operating system at all. In ways, it&#8217;s superior to Windows 7. \u00a0But Windows 8 is the ugly duckling &#8212; and many people are avoiding getting a new computer because they don&#8217;t want to deal with Windows 8 &#8212; because of all the negative publicity. TC thinks Windows 8 was a mistake &#8211; all Microsoft needed to do was to make Windows 8 user-configurable enough that users could have chosen the traditional desktop or the touch-screen mode. \u00a0EB thinks it&#8217;s great just the way it is. But one thing we both agree on is that it&#8217;s not the dog that users and tech writers have made it out to be.<\/p>\n<p>But PC and laptop sales are the worst in history and PC &amp; laptop makers like HP are trying hard to stimulate sales. HP has found that offering brand new Windows 7 computers is a good way to stimulate sales. But HP is not the only computer manufacturer still offering brand new Windows 7 computers&#8230; others like Dell, Lenovo, Acer, and Asus (to name a few) still offer new Windows 7 computers. They\u2019re proudly trumpeting the availability of systems running Windows 7 just in case PC buyers can\u2019t stand the thought of Windows 8.<\/p>\n<p>Despite what numerous blogs are reporting, HP is not giving up on Windows 8 and offering fresh Windows 7 configurations for sale. As ZDnet\u2019s Ed Bott notes in a well-researched post, HP has never stopped selling Windows 7 PCs.<br \/>\nWhat they\u2019re doing is the same thing that made-for-TV marketers do. Up next: announcing that you\u2019ll have to act fast because quantities are limited and that they can\u2019t do this all day.<\/p>\n<p>Major PC OEMs almost never give up on the last-gen Windows OS until they absolutely have to. Machines aimed specifically at consumers may become hard to find, but business configs are generally available for a long time after the new OS launches. Just take a quick look at any online retailer\u2019s website. TigerDirect still has dozens of Windows 7 Home and Pro systems for sale.
