{"id":761,"date":"2011-03-15T20:34:11","date_gmt":"2011-03-16T00:34:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/?p=761"},"modified":"2011-03-15T20:51:23","modified_gmt":"2011-03-16T00:51:23","slug":"bing-now-offering-instant-search","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/bing-now-offering-instant-search\/","title":{"rendered":"Bing now offering &#8220;Instant Search&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bing is now offering &#8220;Instant Search&#8221;.\u00a0Picasso once said that &#8220;good artists imitate, but great artists steal&#8221;. \u00a0Apparently in the corporate world: good companies imitate, but great companies steal.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft who has\u00a0unsuccessfully\u00a0tried to imitate everything from iPod \u00a0(Zune) to iPhone (Kin, Kin2, Windows 7 Phone), \u00a0has now decided to take a different tack. \u00a0Microsoft&#8217;s johnny-come-lately search engine, Bing, \u00a0now has a feature strikingly similar to Google&#8217;s &#8220;instant results&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/most-innovative-companies\/2011\/profile\/microsoft.php\">Microsoft<\/a> is boosting its Bing system with a similar &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/bing-adding-instant-search-but-youll-need-a-modern-browser-to-use-it-2011-3#ixzz1FuwtDy49\">instant results<\/a>&#8221; feature to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/most-innovative-companies\/2011\/profile\/google.php\">Google<\/a>&#8216;s, bringing a pseudo-real time feel to search that aims to speed up the process significantly.<\/p>\n<p>Google  introduced &#8220;instant&#8221; search feedback recently to increase the speed and  efficiency of search&#8211;the system pops up a suggested list of search  query matches as you&#8217;re actually typing, just in case the results meet  your needs before you go through the tedious business of typing out a  complete search string. Now Microsoft, which is busy expanding Bing&#8217;s  search engine into a very serious rival for Google, is trying something  very similar.<\/p>\n<p>New Bing will include the instant search feature,  smoother animations, better interaction with search history, pop-over  windows to make in-site navigation easier, and moving photos and  slideshows for certain types of search query results&#8211;these last give  you more info about a search query finding directly inside Bing, meaning  it&#8217;s simpler to determine if the match actually satisfies your needs  without requiring you to surf there directly.
