{"id":8853,"date":"2014-12-25T10:03:43","date_gmt":"2014-12-25T15:03:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/?p=8853"},"modified":"2014-12-25T10:03:43","modified_gmt":"2014-12-25T15:03:43","slug":"apologies-to-dr-seuss-a-christmas-poem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/apologies-to-dr-seuss-a-christmas-poem\/","title":{"rendered":"Apologies to Dr. Seuss &#8211; A Christmas Poem"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/apologies.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8854\" src=\"http:\/\/thundercloud.net\/infoave\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/apologies.png\" alt=\"apologies\" width=\"178\" height=\"238\" \/><\/a>Apologies to Dr. Seuss &#8211; A Christmas Poem<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>I was alone on that Christmas but don&#8217;t feel bad<br \/>\nI sat alone in my room and I was so sad.<br \/>\nThere was no sign of Christmas, not that one could see<br \/>\nNo holly, no wreaths, and no, not even a tree.<\/p>\n<p>Then I opened a can of spaghetti with meat<br \/>\nNo, it wasn&#8217;t exactly a great Christmas treat<br \/>\nBut I ate it I tell you and I was alone<br \/>\nFor dessert I ate a stale old strawberry scone.<\/p>\n<p>I turned on the TV but it started hissing<br \/>\nA lady&#8217;s voice said &#8220;Do you know what you&#8217;re missing?&#8221;<br \/>\nThen dressed in long white robe she appeared on my screen<br \/>\nAnd said &#8220;You&#8217;re the loneliest man I&#8217;ve ever seen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I looked at her and said &#8220;Are you talking to me?<br \/>\nSurely you&#8217;re not, because as you can plainly see<br \/>\nI am eating spaghetti right out of a can<br \/>\nAnd I&#8217;m warm and I&#8217;m dry and I&#8217;m not a sad man.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She smiled and she looked from the screen into my eyes<br \/>\nShe said take my hand for you I have a surprise.<br \/>\nI said &#8220;You must be kidding, you&#8217;re inside my TV!&#8221;<br \/>\nShe said &#8220;Do what I say now and you will soon see.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I felt like a fool sticking my hand to the screen<br \/>\nBut I did it and saw something I&#8217;ve never seen.<br \/>\nI was floating around with a lady in white<br \/>\nLooking down on a village on a Christmas night.<\/p>\n<p>I saw families gathered, smiles on their faces<br \/>\nAll warmed by the logs burning in their fireplaces.<br \/>\nAnd the presents were scattered all over that house<br \/>\nDad got a new sweater and mom got a new blouse<\/p>\n<p>There were smiles everywhere you could see all the love<br \/>\nChurch bells were ringing and snow fell from above.<br \/>\nThe ground was all white, you could see the snow glisten<br \/>\nThe lady in white said &#8220;I want you to listen!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m still floating around with a lady in white,<br \/>\nAbove a this small village on a Christmas night<br \/>\nAnd I hear people singing; I feel their great joy<br \/>\nIn fact I am feeling like a small little boy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Do you feel the warmth when you hear them all singing?&#8221;<br \/>\nShe said to me while the church bells were still ringing.<br \/>\n&#8220;I do, I do!&#8221; And I looked down on the small town<br \/>\nThere were nothing but smiles and not one single frown.<\/p>\n<p>She smiled and she took me some place I did not know<br \/>\nIt was way far away &#8211; there was not any snow.<br \/>\nI saw an old man, he was alone and confused,<br \/>\nAnd he did not look happy, not one bit amused.<\/p>\n<p>He was all wrinkled, just a pathetic old man<br \/>\nEating spaghetti with meat right out of a can.<br \/>\nThe lady in white said &#8220;And now what do you see?&#8221;<br \/>\nI said &#8220;I see the future. That old man is me!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now you know why you should go see your family&#8221;<br \/>\nAnd I thought to myself I can&#8217;t let that happen to me<br \/>\nThe she took me back home and I floated no more<br \/>\nI must have been sleeping right there on my floor.<\/p>\n<p>I got up and I showered, put on my best clothes<br \/>\nI walked out the door, felt the snow fall on my nose,<br \/>\nI walked down the street and with a smile on my face<br \/>\nI shouted &#8220;Merry Christmas&#8221; all over the place.<\/p>\n<p>I went to my neighbors and said come over and dine<br \/>\nI have turkey and pie and some really good wine.<br \/>\nI called my children &#8211; &#8220;Come see your old dad!&#8221;<br \/>\nI could tell by their voices that they were all glad.<\/p>\n<p>That evening we gathered for a big Christmas feast<br \/>\nThe bread was amazing &#8211; all pumped up by the yeast.<br \/>\nThe turkey was tender and the pie had whipped cream<br \/>\nWe all gathered together, it seemed like a dream.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps we should think lest we find ourselves alone<br \/>\nEating spaghetti with meat with an old stale scone.<br \/>\nIt is never too late to make everything right<br \/>\nWhat better time is there&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>than on this Christmas night?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Apologies to Dr. Seuss &#8211; A Christmas Poem I was alone on that Christmas but don&#8217;t feel bad I sat alone in my room and I was so sad.
