Clearing Up a Couple of Things About Windows 10<\/h1>\n

About Your Music<\/h3>\n

Many of you read our article “Windows 10 Giveth and Windows 10 \u00a0Taketh Away<\/a><\/span>” and came away with the idea that you won’t be able to play your music files on Windows 10 unless you download some 3rd-party program. This isn’t true…the article said you will need to download a 3rd-party program (like VLC Player) to play DVDs.<\/p>\n

And now it appears that even this information was only partly correct.<\/p>\n

There will be a Windows Media Player in Windows 10 but it will only play music not video. \u00a0Now\u00a0Darcy, pointed out to me that Windows 10 has a video app\u00a0Videos. Right now it’s called XBox Video. It will not be called XBox Video by the time Microsoft releases Windows 10. I see where it will play your personal videos and where you can download movies and TV \u00a0shows but I sure don’t see where you can play DVDs with it. \u00a0We’ll see.\u00a0We’ve included screenshots of \u00a0the video app in this article.** Your music libraries and your music files, such as MP3 and WMA files, will play just fine in Windows 10 without downloading any programs or apps. And it appears despite all the press about the lack of a complete media player in Windows 10, you’ll have a video app you can use to watch TV ,buy\/rent movies or play your own move collections. \u00a0Stay tuned for more.<\/p>\n

Windows Media Player in Windows 10 will not play DVDs, but it will play your music files just fine. Here are a couple of screenshots showing an MP3 file playing on Windows 10<\/p>\n

\nPlay your personal video files too. But I don’t see any sign of playing movies on DVD with his player.<\/p>\n

We hope this eases your mind about playing music on Windows 10 – all of you who enjoy listening to music on \u00a0your computer will have no problem listening to music on Windows 10. And you’ll be able to play videos too. Whether or not you’ll be able to play DVDs, is another question.<\/p>\n

Will My Favorite Programs Run on Windows 10?<\/h3>\n

We’ve had dozens of questions asking if X Y Z program will run on Windows 10. And the answer is simple – if a program runs of Windows 7 and\/or Windows 8, it will run just fine on Windows 10.<\/p>\n

I’ve been using Windows 10 since the first preview was released and I’ve yet to find one program that runs on my Windows 7 program that will not run on Windows 10. So, if you’re using Windows 7 or Windows 8x right now and your favorite programs are working for you now, they’ll work for you on Windows 10.
