Eight easy and useful Windows tips<\/h1>\n

These tips work on most versions of Windows. The best way to find out if they work on your version is – try them. You sure can’t hurt anything and you’ll probably find they work as described.<\/p>\n

1. Lock your computer<\/strong><\/p>\n

Press Win+L to lock your computer.<\/p>\n

2. Switch user<\/strong><\/p>\n

Switch users without going through the Welcome screen. Click CTRL\/ALT\/DELETE to open Task Manager. Click the \u201cUsers\u201d tab in Task Manager, right-click a User name and select Connect.<\/p>\n

3.Hibrernate computer<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hold down the shift key in the shutdown dialog to change \u201cStand By\u201d to \u201cHibernate\u201d. Or just press H to hibernate instantly. You can also use the Power Control Panel to configure your power button to hibernate.<\/p>\n

4.Choose details<\/strong><\/p>\n

Open Windows Explorer. From the View Menu, select \u201cChoose Details\u201d to select which file properties should be shown in the Explorer window. To sort items by a file property, check its name in the \u201cChoose Details\u201d in order to make that property available in the \u201cArrange Icons by\u201d menu.<\/p>\n

5.Display volume control icon in taskbar<\/strong><\/p>\n

To display the volume control icon in the taskbar, click Start\/Control Panel then go to Sounds and Audio Devices and select \u201cPlace volume icon in the taskbar\u201d.<\/p>\n

6.Delete a file without sending it to the recycle bin<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hold down the shift key when deleting a file to delete it immediately. It won\u2019t go to the Recycle Bin first, it will be deleted. Use with care.<\/p>\n

7. Open your browser \u00a0to full-screen mode<\/strong><\/p>\n

To run Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome in full-screen mode just press the F11 key. Press it again to return to normal-mode.<\/p>\n

8. Go backward or forward when browsing the Web using only your mouse wheel<\/strong><\/p>\n

To move backward or forward while browsing the Web with Internet Explorer or Firefox, hold the Shift key while turning the mouse wheel to go forward or backward.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
