How many of you have been reading the articles by\u00a0alarmist\u00a0security experts who tell you that Microsoft is using Cortana in Windows 10 (Microsoft’s version of Apple’s Siri ) and your Web camera to record you and gather information on you and all kinds of other cloak and dagger stuff. I’ve even read some articles that suggest Microsoft is in Cahoots with the NSA.<\/p>\n
How is it that every time Microsoft comes out with a successful operating system – and it appears that Windows 10 is going to be very successful – the conspiracy theorists crawl out of their little dark holes. \u00a0I’m not a big fan of Microsoft and I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but just thinking logically – do you really think Microsoft could get away with that sort of thing and still stay in business? How come when Apple released Siri, the conspiracy cadre didn’t get all bent out of shape about Apple using Siri to spy on users, after all Microsoft’s Cortana is just a copycat Apple Siri.<\/p>\n
It’s really cool to criticize Microsoft because they don’t have the flock of adoring lambs like Apple. Did you ever notice companies like Starbuck’s , \u00a0Panera Bread, \u00a0and Apple are almost untouchable when it comes to journalistic and \/ or verbal attacks. Apple, Panera Bread, Starbucks’, and other “cool” or “trendy” brands seem almost immune to the kinds of arrows and barbs that Microsoft has to withstand.<\/p>\n
Back in the days of Windows 95 and Windows 98, Microsoft was the darling of the industry – and believe it or not – almost everyone loved Microsoft and Microsoft was almost immune to the verbal and written attacks they have to withstand now. No doubt Microsoft has put money and profits before customers too many times and that kind of arogant disregard for the people who made Microsoft successful does leave a sour taste in many people’s mouths.<\/p>\n
It’s not just Microsoft that has an image problem – Google now gets accused of many of the same things as Microsoft. And it was just few \u00a0years ago Google was the darling of the tech world – but now more.<\/p>\n
So how is it that Apple has been able to stay far above the madding crowd? After all it has had it share of problems (rememeber the iPhone antenna problem?). Apple overcharges for its product – which is part of their allure. The same thing that makes Stargbucks and Panera aluring – quality products that are simply overpriced. I saw a taste test somewhere where people actually thought McDonald’s coffee tasted better than Starbucks – a blind taste test. When you took away the logo and the fancy cups<\/p>\n
Now I’m not bad-mouthing Apple so much as I am wondering how Apple – which as a company is worth more than Microsoft – rarely gets accused of spying on its customers or being in cahoots the NSA? Microsoft copies Siri, calls it Cortana, and is immediately suspected of using Cortana to accumulate dossiers on customers for money or to assist the NSA.<\/p>\n
It’s ridiculous that anyone would write such garbage. Yet I can understand why. Like the old National Enquirer knew decades ago – crazy, wild, ridiculous and sensational stories sells papers – and it sells tech sites and it sells blogs too.<\/p>\n
How long to you think Microsoft would be in business if it were proved that they were in the information gathering business – spying on users via their verbal interaction with Cortana or using the Web cam with Skype. Anyone can speculate about anything. And the wilder the speculation the more it gets people talking. Now these latest ridiculous attacks on Microsoft make my head spin. The number of people who have sent me articles to check out is amazing. Microsoft lets all your contacts use you Wi-fi. Microsoft lets your contacts read your email. Microsoft can read your emails and knows what pictures you have on your computer. Microsoft is using Cortana and Skype to gather information on you and your family. I can’t believe that anyone believes this.<\/p>\n
Microsoft is struggling to stay viable and meaningful in a world in which Chrome, Apple, and Android operating systems are are more devices worldwide that Windows. Windows no longer dominates the Internet. The Web no longer is the sole domain of Microsoft. So why would Microsoft commit corporate suicide by brazenly spying on it customers. How long do you think they could keep that a secret?<\/p>\n
Google plans to bring thousands of illegal aliens \u00a0into the U.S. and train them to run its data centers across the U.S. Google’s need for cheap labor is expected to increase sharply as it plans to roll out nationwide Wifi beginning in the spring of 2018. Google is paying billions of dollars to the Department of Justice and the Department of Immigration to turn a blind eye to this blatant violation of the law….<\/p>\n
See? I can do it too! Whoa! Illegal aliens? Google? You knew they were up to no good!<\/p>\n
