Microsoft is giving away 10 of the top albums of 2015 to users of Windows 10 PCs, laptops, tablets & smart phones in the USA. So if you live in the USA and you’re using Windows 10, you’re in luck. If not you’re Scrooged.

While you might want to think Microsoft as the benificent altruistic Christmas ghost of Christmas Windows, the reason for the give away is to try to get you to use the Groove Music app in Windows t0, and hopefully, down the road, pay for a subscription. However, you’re not obligated to buy anything – these 10 albums are free of charge and free of strings. If you like music, and you are in the USA and using Windows 10 here’s your chance to gets mucho music for free. But, as you can imagine, this is for a limited time only.

How do you get your free albums? Well, how about we bring in Christine Calio from Microsoft to tell you all about it? Sound good?

I’m Christina Calio, and I’m on the Groove team here at Microsoft. Today I’m happy to let you know that we’re making 10 of the top albums from 2015 available in the Windows Store, for free for our Windows 10 fans as a gift from us for the holidays, and to say thank you for the support*! The eclectic group of albums we’re presenting includes the newest albums from Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, and Breaking Benjamin. We’ve included artists and albums nominated for multiple Grammys at the upcoming 58th annual Grammy Awards, which will take place this February in Los Angeles.

Some of my favorites include the debut album from the charming and talented James Bay, who is up for Best New Artist and Best Rock Album, Currents from Tame Impala which I keep on repeat and is up for Best Alternative Album, and Sound and Color from Alabama Shakes, a phenomenal live band with an album so good it’s in the running for six Grammys including Album of the Year.

In these crazy-busy-hectic and all too often troubling times, music can heal, bring release, spread harmony, and remind us all to take a moment to smile…

Read the rest here.

PS: TC has no idea who the lady singer in the picture at the top is.

Hy Coco, We are Canadians that’s all and most giveaways from the USA are not for us and we would also have to pay Duty on these items. I have also been kind of mad about this but why spend my life worrying for something I can’t change. It is the same with certain magazines, TV shows giveaway etc. Take it easy and spend a well deserved X-mas.
