Clearing up some things about Emsisoft Anti-Malware

First, we want to thank all of you for your amazing welcome to our newest Cloudeight recommended and endorsed product:  Emsisoft Anti-Malware. It’s a great program and we’re positive that most of you will benefit greatly from it in the form of reduced malware infections and more effective antivirus protection.

It’s been a couple of weeks now since we first recommended Emsisoft to you. We spent several weeks testing it in several environments – but we did most of our testing on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. And it was only after testing Emsisoft thoroughly as well as trying their support team as “regular” customers that we recommended it to you. But before we recommended it to you, we installed it on all of our personal computers and business computers, recommended it to our friends and family members, who installed it and gave us their feedback as well.

No matter how thoroughly we test anything, we still cannot guarantee that any program will function on your computer as it functions on ours.  For the vast majority of you, you have probably found it runs well and protects your computer from all manner of malware, infected or untrustworthy Web sites, and is an exceptionally robust antivirus which uses very little system resources.

We have had a lot of questions about Emsisoft – and by now we’re beginning to see a pattern of questions regarding Emsisoft’s Antivirus component. So we’ll address those here as well as some other frequently asked questions as well.

Q. Do I need to keep my current antivirus if I purchase Emsisoft Anti-Malware?

A. No, you do not. Will Emsisoft function along side of another antivirus? Sometimes. But remember running two antivirus programs uses resources and may, at times cause conflicts. And since Emsisoft Anti-Malware’s antivirus component was only one of three antivirus programs to score 100% on three different independent antivirus testing labs’ testing – and it was the only one which has a really effective anti-malware component that can help you keep your computer free of the malware most of you are likely to encounter, such as: Conduit, FunWebProducts, Imminent, SearchScopes, Web Cakes, InBox and other malware toolbars and programs which come bundled with other software. And no, Emsisoft Anti-Malware (Full version) is not free. But it’s not nearly as expensive as Norton, McAfee, TrendMicro or some of the others. Norton, McAfee, and TrendMicro couldn’t manage a detection score of better than 95% on the independent lab tests. And none of those have an antimalware component that protects you against the malware you’re most likely to encounter — the kind that comes hidden in software bundlers and wrappers that come from many download sites, including: CNet, Softronics, and Tucows.

So can you use Emsisoft Anti-Malware along side of Microsoft Security Essentials? Usually… but why would you want to? Can you run it alongside Norton, McAfee, TrendMicro? We don’t think it’s a good idea — and why would you want to? Why use up your computer resources on unnecessary things?

Q. I have some trace registry items that Emsisoft can’t remove. How dangerous are these?

A. Registry traces, in most cases, are registry orphans leftover when your cleaned malware from your computer, and, in most cases won’t affect your computer — IN MOST CASES. If you find you do have traces of malware in your registry, do contact Emsisoft support and they will be glad to help you. We’ve tested the program, we’ve been using it for over a month, but we’re not the developers of the program — and those are the folks who know the program better than anyone. So, if you have a question about Emsisoft Anti-Malware, contact their support team — you’ll be glad you did. You’ll get an answer and you’ll be treated well. We guarantee it.

Q. You guys seem to make Emsisoft seem perfect. Is it?

A. No. No software program in the world is perfect. Good software is constantly evolving and improving, but no software in the world is perfect. Is Windows perfect? No – Windows is still, after all these years, imperfect. And it will probably always be imperfect. But Emsisoft is the best anti-malware / antivirus you can install on your computer at any price. It’s very important for all of you who are using Emsisoft to contact Emsisoft’s support team if you have a problem with or a question about the program.  Bringing issues and questions to their attention helps them make the program better and easier to use. Your feedback is more than welcome – it’s essential. So please do contact their support team if you encounter a problem or need an answer to a question about the program.

We are in contact with Emsisoft almost every day – and we’re 100% sure that our choice of Emsisoft Anti-Malware was the right one and the best one. We keep them on their toes, and you should too.  We want you to be safe online, but it’s hard to do that when so many companies are making so much money by tricking you into installing malware. Emsisoft is the only product we know of that can prevent malware infections of the kind you’re most likely to encounter. And Emsisoft Anti-Malware’s antivirus ranks second to none.

All I can say is WOWWWW!!! I installed Emsisoft Anti Malware and ran it. I did a deep scan and it found over 200 malware items that Malwarebytes missed. A couple were trojans that my anti virus missed.

Thank you for your hard work screening this software and making the recommendation. You two are the best!!!

I did received an email from Malwarebytes because I had written to them several times to let them know how disappointed I was that they had changed their protection. They have issued a statement that they are going back to including all the things they took out, and more, in response to popular demand. That’s what the link they sent me said. Just thought I’d mention it.

I have reinstalled my MBAM Pro and the tech who is working with me at EAM said that EAM and MBAM together would provide very robust protection.

I purchased the Emsisoff over a week ago; had a very tiny problem and was quickly assisted by them. I have disabled Malwarebytes Pro and don’t miss it at all. I was using Avast (free version) and have disabled all components of it except notifying me when certain software I have needs an update. SuperAntispyware is not running in realtime mode as well. So far, I’m very happy with Emsisoff as it has popped up quite a few times to tell me it blocked websites that were ‘dangerous’ to my computer.

Again; I thank you for your dedication to what you do for us!

SP2 leaves your computer vulnerable, so it would not be a good thing for us to talk anyone into making something work with a vulnerable operating system. Service Pack 3 was a huge security patch for XP. Wouldn’t it just be the right thing for you to install SP3 for your own safety?

Please tell me that I’m understanding you correctly. Are you saying tht Emsisoft is both an anti-virus program and an anti-Malware program at one time? I don’t care to have to purchase yet another program, MSE is working well. Thanks for any clarification.

We are becoming concerned with MSE’s continuing decline and watching closely to see if MS decides to put a team to work on it to bring it back where it used to be. The last independent lab tests showed MSE ranking out of the top ten (it used to be number 3 or 4 – which is actually very good), and catching 90.4% of all viruses and Trojans during the test. That means about 10% are not being caught. McAfee and Norton didn’t fare that well either with 94-96% “catch” rates. Emsisoft had 100% – so it is a great anti-malware, but it also one of only 3 anti-virus programs (TotalDefense and Kaspersky were the other two, but they have no effective anti-malware component) to get 100%. So you decide; base your decision on facts and not on anything else.

When I read your first posts about Emisoft AntiMalware, I understood that you recommended it be run along with MSE. After reading this article, I have uninstalled MSE. I’m trusting that this is the right decision based on my trust in you. I do have a question, though. Should I leave a check mark next to ‘activate email scanning’ under configuration and the general tab? I know you have said before that this isn’t necessary so am just checking for sure. Thanks again for keeping us safe.
