DuckDuckGo contest

By | August 24, 2012

Zac over at DuckDuckGo.com contacted us about an article which we featured in last week’s Premium newsletter. In that article we talked about DuckDuckGo’s !Bang feature which is certainly as unique as it is useful.

If you don’t have a clue what DuckDuckGo is – it’s a fantastic search engine that regards your personal privacy as sacred – something too rare these days on the Interweb (that’s coolspeak for Internet kinda like “The Cloud”). If you’ve never searched with DuckDuckGo – go try the Duck right now — www.duckduckgo.com — then come back here and finish reading — please? Because if you do and you like DuckDuckGo as much as we do, then you’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn that your comments about DuckDuckGo could get you a free DuckDuckGo T-shirt and DuckDuckGo stickers.

EB and I will have our DuckDuckGo T-shirts soon. So just think – you could be wearing a DuckDuckGo T-shirt just like the good old clowns you know as TC and EB!

DuckDuckGo is a GREAT search engine that gives you great search results without invading your privacy or showing you all kinds of ads. Tell Zac (wasn’t Zac in “An Officer and a Gentleman”?) why you like DuckDuckGo and you may win a free DuckDuckGo T-shirt and some DuckDuckGo stickers to stick wherever you like to stick things.

So tell Zac what you love about DuckDuckGo and you could win a free T-shirt and a pile of stickers. Zac is giving away three t-shirts to those who make the the three best comments, so try to be witty — and nice.

A few days ago, maybe it was a week ago, (doesn’t matter)
I mentioned that I’ve used the “duck” ever since Cloudeight InfoAve brought it to my attention long ago. I get great search results and it’s fast. I loved it so much, I made it my default search engine. I just want to thank the people at duckduckgo for fast searches that aren’t “mucked up” with junk, and giving me the choice of not having my searches tracked. Having that choice is rare these days and I appreciate it. The only other search engine I use is Google usually to get a “2nd opinion”. I only access Google from the Cloudeight startpage so they can make a little well-deserved extra income.

I’ve been using duckduckgo since Cloud Eight first mentioned it and it’s great!!!! It’s so fast and the way everything is set up is simple but so efficient. It’s a pleasure to have a site that is so easy, efficient and fast all rolled into one. Everyone should really give it a try and I’m sure they’ll be pleasantly surprised. I know I was!
I, too, now only use Google when I want a second opinion and to support Cloud Eight hoping that every penny will help support them as we’d hate to lose them.

This is a search engine that you can genuinely and pleasingly cry FOWL over. Very direct and quick with no excessive junk or repetitive information. I think I have a replacement for Google for sure. Thank you!

I discovered DuckDuckGo about one year ago when you first mentioned them and have been with them ever since. I have no need, except out of rare curiousity, to use Google. They are set up to strictly protect the user of their search engine. They don’t track you, they don’t bubble you, but they do give you more than enough web sites to find exactly what you want/need. It really is my go to search engine and they have made it a good experience. Thank you Cloudeight for the year ago mention and Thank you DuckDuckGo in the way you conduct your business and respect your patrons.

Duck Duck Go is great. I must have missed the first time you mentioned it but I am glad you did again. It was so refreshing to do a search that was fast and didn’t have a bunch of advertisements to sort through.

uumm… a ‘Ducky T-shirt,’ huh? Well, I could sure use one of those since I’ve kept WalMart in business for years, although their’s only cost $5 bucks. Does your T-shirt have a Duck on it? My favorite color is Red…. got that color? … I prefer a size ‘xx-large’ since I like loose things! BTY… can I get a White duck on it, too? Paddy

Like a duckling just learning to wet its feet, I decided to test the “DuckDuckGo” waters and dive right in.
Needless to say, it was well worth it.It’s fast and gives you just enough web site information without feeling overwhelmed.
Thanks TC and EB, for this input and thanks Zac for your wonderful search engine.

    Hi TC & EB,
How long since you first told us about DuckDuck ?
I use DuckDuck, and it is GREAT…….it does what is supposed to do, unlike other browsers, read the news…NO, read email…NO, chat with friends…NO…NO,NO,NO….I want to search the Internet, not be Goggled, Fireofaxed, Explored, Binged, Pallid Mooned, Ironed, or otherwise ‘subjunctivated’ (Hee Hee,TC)….here’s my ticket Ducky, take me in the direction of my typed request.

    Ciao!!

Cloud eight only recomends the best available so I tried the Duck. It is very good and I like it just like they said I would.

Therefore I need a Duck Tee Shirt because I can’t wait to explain it to people when they ask “What the devil is that on you shirt”. Thank you.

I’ve used DuckDuckGo ever since it was first featured in the Cloudeight Newsletter. It is a terrific search engine. I write fanfiction, and it requires a lot of research on odd subjects to make my stories as factually correct as possible. DuckDuckGo seems to almost read my mind and never fails to turn up exactly the references I need on the first page of returns. I love the fact that it is not cluttered with ads or favored websites. It gets straight to the information I need. Long live DuckDuckGo!

Well certainly need a Duck here in Oklahoma….not to GO tho….we NEED the water please. Added your site to my Windows XP when Cloud 8 suggested it. Now I’m adding it to my laptop!!

Just don’t like being ‘followed’ around and looking behind my back to get info on me – everyone else already has what they need…giving them my blood type 12 times a day is not nice!!!! Have given enough blood, thanks Zak oops, Zac.

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for your comments about DuckDuckGo. Every one of you deserved a T-shirt but we only had 3 to give away. The winners have been notified, and right now Zac is busy back in the silk screen room at DuckDuckGo with his hands full of ink. Yes indeed, each shirt is handmade by Zac — his toil is your reward. KIDDING!

The shirts and stickers will be on their way to the three winners — Zac picked the winners — very soon.

Thank you all so much for your comments — and on Zac’s behalf — thank you for using DuckDuckGo!

    Wow Zack,

DuckDuckGo is amazing and your sense of humour quacks me up! Just sayin’……I know the T-shirts are already spoken for.

I have been using MSN-never have been a Google fan, but Duck is so much cleaner, crisper, faster, and precise. I have been directed to the information I am seeking right away and I feel like I’m not wasting time on my computer anymore. Thanks so much, and thanks to Cloudieght for sharing! 🙂
